Having problems with your Digital Cameras ?

When I slide the lens cover to turn on the camera, the camera turns off and the lens retracts.

Answers :

I would say the camera is trying to extend the lense, however meeting a minimal resistance is shutting back down.
\015\012Lint, sand or other particle may have lodged in the lense mechanism.
\015\012As you power on next time... give it a few good thumps on your palm, ans see if you can get ti to dislodge.
\015\012It sounds strange, but there are very tight tolerances in the lense, and even an eyelash or hair can make it not want to extend.
\015\012If there are no errors on-screen - your problem is a mechanical binding and should be expertly cleaned if you cant get it un-stuck manually.

My camera turns on by itself even with the slide in front in the closed position. The screen then shows the warning that the lens cover is closed. When I open and reclose the lens cover in 10 or so seconds the camera turns itself back on and repeats with the lens cover closed warning. The only way for me to turn the camera off at this point is to remove the battery. Help!

Most likely some dirt, dust, or other particle is jamming the lens opening gears. You can try to spray some compressed air into the lens assembly, hopefully dislodging whatever is obstructing the lens cover. If this doesn't work, the camera wil ... Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T77 Digital Camera

Lens Retraction I've had my PowerShot for seven months and yesterday, after taking a picture, my friend turned the camera off and the lens structure did not retract nor did the cover go over the lens. When I turn it on now, it says "Lens error. Restart camera." but it won't seem to fix itself. What should I do?

Camera was on, working fine. When powering off, telescoping lens did not retract so lens remained extended just a bit with lens cover open. Waited a few minutes, turned it back on and I get the "access" display message then the beeps and (turn power off and back on) message. While off, I have removed the battery, replacing it with a fully charged spare and it still does this. The lens tries to telescope a little bit and retracts a touch, but I can't get the camera out of this mode. Can it be res

My Olympus Fe-230 camera's lens won't open. I turn the camera on and it makes the sound of the lens opening, and the lens begin to "push out" but then retract. This happens a few times and then the camera stops "trying" to open. The actual lens is never exposed [as in the black 'cover' never opens]. How do I fix it?

I have a Cannon Powershot SD600, just got it recently and it worked great, then all of a sudden I noticed the cover lens's that slide over to protect the lens when you shut it off were messed up. Hello, I own a Fugi Finepix F100 camera. Last week my dog was pulling on his leash trying to get to a gaggle of ducks and caused me to drop my camera down into snow. I tried to dry it off and in doing so might have damaged the retractable lens cover. Now it is not reliable in opening all the way, I usually need to help slide it back so that the lens is fully exposed. I really don't want to have an expensive repair unless necessary...what do you advise? Thank you! Linda
