Is there the equiv of "focus priority shutter release" Comments: Jan 09, 2010 - by "focus priority shutter release" I mean the ability to instruct NOT to allow shutter release (ie FULL depression of the shutter button" UNTIL focus is achieved and confirmed. I have this feature on all my NIKON and OLY pro and prosumer level cameras as well as my Panasonic GH1 (just got this little beauty and love it). I'm asking the question on behalf of a friend who just got the LEICA V-LUX 1. Thanks in ad

I don't have the V Lux, but based on what the operation manual says, the camera will not work this way. It's designed for you to press the shutter release halfway until you get focus indication, and then to fully press to take the picture. \0 ... Leica V-LUX 1 Digital Camera

Nikon D80 with a Sigma Lens (80 to 200 I think). In manual mode, often shutter won't release - this was a close up of a hummingbird with a fast shutter speed. Internal light meter showed underexposed, but the background was dark green. Initially, the shutter released, but later would not operate either with a remote, or by manually depressed the shutter release button. Switching back to auto, the camera seemed to work fine, but in this mode could not get the desired shutter speed. In full manual

D60: I just got back from Certified Repair group where they said the camera is "okay". The Problem: It's like the ISO has shifted, and the readings on P, S, A, even M all result in a long exposure/wide open aperture reading. Frequently the reading is such that the shutter will not release, due to no focus or wrong light amount. Frequently the focus "peep" does not go off, and so the shutter will not release. Two weeks ago it was fine, don't think I changed anything, but it's like a setting is

My IR-500 will not focus whether I lock focus or not. When I half depress the shutter & get the green light I press the shutter & then get a severe motion blur. This occurs in all scene modes. It does not happen when using flash. Please advise -jim

Your shutter is staying open too long. Do you have it set on "bulb" or "time exposure" or something like that? It doesn't happen on flash pics because the flash is so short, it freezes the action. ... Olympus i:robe IR-500 Digital Camera

Nikon d80 My camera seems to "lock up" after multiple shoots. When I push the shutter release halfway the in in focus indicator lights up but the shutter will not release. I have to turn the camera off and then back on to proceed. Thanking you in advance for your help. Steve

Similar problem here .. on a D40. I'm suspecting the shutter release button (after looking for lots of dependencies - like AF sensor malfunction, time from power up, auto-off timer settings..) .. since it does fire if I press the button at an angle. ... Digital Cameras

Focus camera will not focus, even sight screen is out of focus The camera will not focus. When switched on it beeps with a flashing green light near rthe view-finder and the lens housing extends. This repeats and the then the viewing screen goes blank. Pressing the AEL button will illuminate the viewing screen, but it is out of focus. Half depression of the shutter makes no difference. I had previously some intermittent operation of the zoom mechanism. The camera has not been dropped or jarred.

Your camera is having a problem positioning the lens unit, more than likely the cause is grit/dirt in mechanism, I recommend that you take the camera to a autorised service agent to have it stripped, cleaned and rebuilt. Nikon FM: Shutter release button will not allow me to take another photo and I'm only on frame 15 of a roll of 24. The film advance lever does not move the film, but it does open all the way to the right & shows the lights on inside (so the battery is OK). I changed the battery just in case, but that didn't solve the problem. I'm wondering if the film somehow came undone inside.

The FM is a mechanical camera, the batteries only power the metering system. Sometimes what happens is when you buy film say in 4 roll packages, they give you 3 24 exps and a 12 exp. I suggest that you rewind the roll and check this. You will only ... Nikon Digital Cameras

I have a Nikon D200 camera. It's now 2 years old and I'm having difficulty with the auto focus. The camera focuses but it comes in and out and I have to depress the shutter several times to get it clear. What do I need to do to remedy this. Thanks a bunch

I've owned this camera Nikon F65 for a few years and it was working perfectly, but I haven't used it for the past year or so and now it just stopped working! I can't seem to get my autofocus to work on my new Canon T1. The mode dial is switched to full auto, the fous mode switch is on AF, and the Image Stabilizer switch is in the "on" position. Hope I can help with some input to your problem. Let me suggest please that you switch the "mode" dial to "P" for program, check your ISO (I personally shoot ISO 100) and set it for a speed ISO 400 or lower. Most DSLR's use contrast to focus so a mir ... Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTI Digital Camera
