Having problems with your Digital Cameras ?

When I press power button it starts to open then closes. Have checked battery.they are ok.Memory card in ok.

Answers :

Many things can cause this but given the information you have provided it probally rules out the battery and memory card. A very likely common malfunction is that the lense housing has been hit and it has caused the housing to come off the gears so to speak and it is now misalligned. It does not take much to cause this to happen a firm rub when open is enough to take it off kilter and malfuction until fixed. The motor that slides open the lense housing senses the friction and extra force needed to open the lense and trips the circuit on the bord to close the lense to prevent further damage. Take it to a repair shop and have it checked out and you should be back in business.
\015\012Also sometimes a pice of foriegn material can become lodged in the lense housing giving the same results. Either way have it checked out. Make sure it hasent been dropped or have gotten wet as it may have done permanent damage to the camera's internal board.
When you test the batteries it's not under a "load" which it is when you power on the camera. you need to purchase a good set of rechargable batteries and charger and use them... you shouldn't have any issues with the camera after that.

DSC-W200 Frozen My W200 has the lens open (extended) and will not close. Additionally, when I press the power button or the play button on the back, the LCD lights up and says Sony, but nothing else happens. I've tried connecting it to my macbook, using a fully charged battery, memory card vs no card, etc. Nothing seems to work. If I press the power button a seond time, the green power light goes off, but the LCD still says Sony. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Not too eager to send it

Canon SD4000 camera, when hitting the power button, the screen remains black screen, the green light blinks twice, lens zooms out, shutter opens. Screen remains black, and I do not seem to have any control at all; pressing the zoom button doesn't move lens, no notable reaction to anything. Hit the power button again, the lens zooms back into it's original position, shutter closes (occasionally does not shut completely), green light blinks twice, screen remains black. Green light on camera back to the right of the 'delete' button continually flashes on-off about 1 second intervals as soon as battery is inserted as long as CF card is in place. Switching camera ON produces no visible operational indicators. Depressing "Menu" button flashes: hour glass; menu display; blank screen. Holding button down just cycles as above. Swapped lens, data card, battery, connected EH-5 power source; nothing makes any difference. Checked same lens in another D70 camera; it's OK.

I would start by looking into the memory card slot to see if you have a bent pin. You may need a small light and a magnifying glass to see them. If the pins are okay, then you can try a reset by holding down the BKT and metering buttons toget ... Nikon D70s Digital Camera with 18-200mm lens

Neither the fujifilm 256MB xd card nor th enew Olympus 2GB xd card will work in the A340. I've put the card in and went to Format it in the camera as per teh menu. It acts like it does but when you take a picture it says "write error" When you turn it on again it still says "card not initialized." I've tried formating them with the camera on (lens cover open) and using the menu and with the camera off (lens cover closed powered on using the button on the back) and using the menu from that screen

The power turns on but the shutter door will not open or extend, it prompts to turn off the power and turn power back on. I am able to see the photos thru the home button already taken that are stored on the card and do the other functions, but am unable to shoot new pictures because the shutter door remains closed. You can hear it trying to open but it will not.

Usually when you see this either the shutter cover motor has a problem or the cover is jammed. You can try gently helping the cover open but don't force it. You haven't mentioned the camera model so I can only give you some generic advice ... Digital Cameras

Camera dying? It will powerup like normal. But when a CF card (tried different ones)is in the camera and you press the button to take a photo, the screen will either shut off clean or give a flash of scrambled image then shut off and freeze. Cards that do not work: SanDisk 8GB SDHC, SanDisk 8 GB SDHC Utra, 4 GB PNY SDHC.
