My canon powershot s3 IS is taking really dark pictures. The only decent pictures I can take with it are outside in sunlight. Pics indoors come out dark and grainy. I flip up the flash, but most of the time the flash doesn't go off, like there is enough light. And then when it does go off, the picture is way too bright. Help please!!

This is not an answer. The S3 normally does not produce dark pictures, and I have seen this issue before. It has to do with a setting somewhere on that camera that needs to be adjusted. I wish I knew what that setting was/is as my wife's camer ... Canon PowerShot S3 IS Digital Camera

Just had my Canon Powershot s1 is flash explode in my face at a meeting with over 30 people attending. I took a picture, the flash went up and suddenly it popped so loud that people ducked. There was also a fire/smoke smell coming from the flash area. Very scary. Those witnessing said they would back me up if suit filed. Checked the batteries and they work fine. The camera will take pictures still but without a flash. Hear of anything like this before? Recall issue?

Lawsuit?? ... lol\015\012\015\012I had a similar experience (no fire, only a loud explosion and lot of smoke). Canon was kind enough to fix the camera for free!!\015\012I called Canon after the incident and spoke to a representativ ... Canon PowerShot S1 IS Digital Camera

My Canon Powershot A95 quite taking pictures suddenly on our trip to Turkey. When I attempt to take a picture the storage card records a black screen. The flash goes off and I can hear the click sound of the simulated shutter. I can still see all the previous picture that I took in the viewing mode. Is this repairable or do I need to purshase a new camera?

There is no hard reset, technically removing the batteries does a hard reset. It does seem as though your imaging sensor (CCD) or the image processing circuitry has failed. If your camera is no longer under warranty then it would be in your advanta ... Digital Cameras

Problem with the Canon PowerShot A630 Digital Camera Turning on camera in picture taking mode has lens going full zoom. In picture review mode no controls work. Out of a sudden I can't preview anymore, and in camera mode the zoom goes to 16X and I can't take pictures. Just doesn't work. I did not drop it or harm it in anyway.....please help.

This is going to be an internal problem. It sounds like you might have two problems going on. The zoom switch might be broken, and jammed in the on position. As for previewing your pictures, this could be a slightly loose ribbon connector from ... Canon PowerShot A630 Digital Camera

Canon Powershot A610 digital camera--LCD screen shows icons, but otherwise is blank--there is no visible movement in the lens when I take a picture without flash--have tried setting it on TV setting and taking a picture, then opening the battery cover for a few seconds after waiting 7 seconds or so, but no images on the LCD except the camera's icons--ideas? probably a stuck shutter, or is it still possibly the CCD sensor even though there's no visible movement in the lens? Ideas? Thanks!

Much more likely that it's a stuck shutter, especially for your model camera. How many tries did you give the fix? Some people stated that it took at least 15 repeated tries before the shutter opened:\015\012\015\012\015\012 ... Canon PowerShot A610 Digital Camera

Canon A510 Powershot camera will not stay powered on when I turn it on in picture-review mode. It comes on for a second --> Canon screen flashes on -- and then shuts off. In picture-taking mode, it seems to be fine. It stays on. But if I switch to review mode, it turns off. I've changed the batteries. It was fine last time I used it, last week. I left it plugged into the PC for a few days, if that makes any difference.

These cameras have capacitors built into the circuitry. A capacitor holds a higher voltage so the camera will operate when in use. Some modes in these cameras do need a higher voltage to work. The capacitor for the review mode is weak and will need t ... Digital Cameras

Canon sd900 I seldom use my canon sd900 and I usually take pictures without using the flash. But I recently noticed that my hands should be very very steady, just a slight movement will cause the picture to be blurry or unclear. I usually don?t use the flash because it gives a darker background with your face too white from the flash. And my problem arises when I would request other people to take my picture because 90% don?t have a steady hand thus giving me a blurry picture.

Try a higher ISO speed (suggest 400). Look in your camera's instruction book to find out how to do this. ... Digital Cameras

On our Canon PowerShot A630's LCD screen, you can't see the picture anymore; it looks like broken glass with swirling shadows/colors. It does not take pictures. Can replacing the LCD screen save the camera, or is this an internal problem?

Canon PowerShot A75 digital cmera suddenly went dead so I can no longer take pictures. Colors flash across the screen instead of the normal clear screen. It turns on and I can pick up the old pictures. It worked one day and then the next was gone. I love the camera and have had it for just over one year. If it costs too much to repair I won't bother, but what do I do and where do I go?
