How do i turn off the physical flash but still get a flash on a large light used for taking portraits
You didn't specify a camera make or model, but most digital cameras will only fire a secondary flash in "slave" mode. The camera's built-in flash must flash to activate the secondary flash (your portrait light).

Camera flash i generally use my camera on auto mode so i don't have to play around with buttons! however after loaning my camera to my sister for a week my flash is no longer as great as it was!! I used to take pics and the flash would light 2-3 times giving a great, bright picture. It now flashes once before the pic is snapped giving a dark picture. If i push the flash button on the left side of the scrolling circle it goes from red eye flash (which flashes once) to no flash! I'm almost certain

Close-up picture Hi! I purchased my camera to take up close-up pictures of handmade greeting cards. The cards are 4" x 5 1/2" with lots of little details. I'd like to show as much detail as possble. I have a Canon Digital EOS Rebel XT and the built-in flash no longer pops up when needed. This started happening after using a Canon speedlite, but then removing it. I've tried resetting everything, and tried all modes expecting that the ones listed in the manual as using a flash would work, but they dont, it never pops up. I lifted up the flash with my fingernail manually, and then tried taking a picture where a flash was most definitely needed, but it still had a long delay, no flash, and

I first experienced a problem with my Canon S2Is camera when it was only taking pictures of blank images. I found a "fix" recommendation which seems to have gotten rid of the black image problem. However, now when I take pictures the images seem to have horizonal lines through them if I don't use the flash. Also, if I am taking a picture outside or in a lot of light, the image ends up being extremely light. Have any suggestions?
