Hello..on Nikon D40 ..70-300 lense...can the arpeture and shutter speeds be manually set and locked in when using in sports mode

Answers :

No. If you use any of the modes, the shutter speed and aperature are controlled by the camera. It does set them up to have higher shutter speeds in the sports mode, though.
\015\012If you're having problems with getting the shutter speed fast enough to stop motion, you should use S mode and set the shutter speed at 1/250 or faster, depending on the light. That will let the camera adjust the aperature if necessary and prevent overexposure. You'll want to set the ISO as high as possible also.
\015\012If it's still underexposed, you'll need to adjust the exposure in Photoshop or other software.

Hi i am using a Nikon N75 to take pictures for my photo class, and the instructor wants us to take low light indoor phtotos at a shutter speed of 1/30 at f2.2. However, when i go to set these settings in manual mode the camera will not let me set my aperture to 2.2 it usually stops at 4 and there is no way i can make it 2.2. i didn't know if there is a limitation on the camera but it seems like i should be able to select what i want.

It's probably a limitation of your lens. You didn't say what lens you're using, but one of the common kit lenses sold with the N75 only goes to f/3.3 at best. If you had a lens that opens up more, the camera will let you use it.The differ ... Nikon Digital Cameras

I have a nikon d200. The last time I used it (only a few days ago) it was fine, everything normal. Then yesterday I pull out out of the case and everything seems to be going wrong. It is metering INSANELY low, like a shutter speed of 100 in full daylight produces a REALLY dark image. It won't auto focus at all, and i am unable to change the fstop in manual or aperture priority modes. I tried to restore it to factory settings and the lcd screen flashed to indicate it had been restored but no luck

Your boyfriend is probably right, and it makes sense, if you can't change the f-stops. \015\012The following blog on Flickr might help you:\015\012 ... Nikon D200 Body Only Digital Camera

Shutter problem When i use the manual mode on my D50, the shutter speed won't go above 30 without the camera going to 'Bulb' - the open shutter mode, no mattter what i try. Can't figure out if the settings are responsible and there really is'nt anything in th manual. Hope it isn't broke.

30 seconds is the maximum setting for the D50. Anything greater than this you can easily time with a watch using the 'bulb' setting. \015\012Most SLR's are like this. ... Nikon D50 Digital Camera

Shutter speed I have had my camera for 6 months. Today I used it for soccer pics and put it on sport mode and every pic I took is blurry. We looked on the information of the pics and the shutter speed is really low. My husband started to look and try to manually adjust some things and the speed will not change. States LOW. I also looked at the soccer portraits I took right before the action shots same day...and some of those are a little blurry as well. What could be wrong? Please help!

Nikon D80 with a Sigma Lens (80 to 200 I think). In manual mode, often shutter won't release - this was a close up of a hummingbird with a fast shutter speed. Internal light meter showed underexposed, but the background was dark green. Initially, the shutter released, but later would not operate either with a remote, or by manually depressed the shutter release button. Switching back to auto, the camera seemed to work fine, but in this mode could not get the desired shutter speed. In full manual

In full manual, yes it should. ... Digital Cameras

Continuous shooting I'm new to this so bare with me. I just got my Nikon D60 and I want to shoot pictures in continuous mode. I set it on manual, go into the menu and change it to continuous. I rotate the dial so it changes the shutter speed but when I take pictures it's just a black screen. As a matter of fact any time I try to take a picture in M it's just black. I'm hoping that there is just a setting I need to change and there's not something wrong with my camera. Thanks.

Hey man. Im not sure how new you are but basically i think your problem is you need to decrease the shutter speed to around 1/200-1/250 of a second and increase the apeture to around f10/12 and see if that works. If your operating at a high shutter s ... Nikon D60 Digital Camera with 18-55mm lens

On the Canon G3 I have issues with the main dial on the handgrip (used for aperture shutter speed and manual focus) while in Manual mode. it will change settings only some of the time! is this usually due to dust in the area and can it be cleaned or otherwise made operational?

External Flash I set my Epson 3100z camera to manual mode and set up the camera for external flash. I manually set the shutter speed to 1/60 sec and the aperture to F4. I also set my SunPak flash to F4. My exposures seem pretty good. However when I review the various photo info's, the aperture reading is F5 or F4.8 not the F4 I set. Why is this? Anyone experienced this? The shutter speed are also not always what I set on the camera.

Shutter speed on the auto mode of my s1000 camera seems slow. how can it be increased in the auto mode? This is a Fuji camera and by the time I press the shutter button subjects have moved. I have set the camera back to the original factory settings and I can adjust the shutter speed in the manual position but in auto it seems really slow.

You need to press the shutter button half-way and allow the camera to lock in the focus before you press the rest of the way. This eliminates "shutter lag". ... Fuji FinePix S1000FD Digital Camera

NIKON D1X Hi I just bought a D1X nikon, in the full manual mode when I change the shutter speed, I can hear no change in the sound it makes when going from 125    to  16K.  However the image gets darker  as I increase the shutter speed.   Is it electronic shutter? Hence no physical increase in shutter speed? Thanks for help.

I was at a basketball game last night and taking pictures with the d80 and the 55-200 lens. All of the pictures I took in auto focus were blurry. I have a rebel xt 350D , using 75-300mm 5.6f lens to do some girls basketball photography inside a gym. Had camera set on: ISO 1600, M mode, 5.6f, 200 shutter speed (that seem to set automatically), used built in flash, Exposure level was in the middle of the chart, auto focus, al servo, continuous shooting, used awb. Got pretty good freeze action shots, with little or no blurring but the photos were dark. Some I could make lighter with photoshop but lost some detail and the contrast was too muc
