How to remove write protect from olympus xd card

\015 Qn: How do i remove write protect from my olympus xd card?I have an Olympus IR-300 digicam & have been using together with an Olympus 256MB XD picture card all along for years & have not really faced any major problems except for now.The last time I was able to use my camera to snap pictures was last Friday. & prior to taking the pictures, when I switched on the camera there was an usual menu option on the screen that I've never come across. If I didn't remember wrongly, it showed 2 options: 1. card setup 2. format (should be similar/ something like that). I tried switching off & on again but it still shows the same thing. Not knowing what 'error' is this, or what to correctly do, I switched off & took out the xd card & put it back in hope that this problem would go away. & it did. I was able to take the photos. Then when I tried to transfer the photos to my pc yesterday, the errors started showing up. Initially I tried using the camera stand & USB port (my usual way) but an error pop-up shows ''incorrect parameter''. I also tried using a card reader, it was worse, I couldn't even explore the drive, the error prompted me to insert device into drive (or something like this).I even tried installing Olympus Master & using this program to transfer/ view the files, but to no avail. When I try switching on my camera, in the playback mode, it shows ''PICTURE ERROR'' & before this screen pops up, while the camera is trying to read the file, i see a key icon at the top right. In the shooting mode, it shows ''WRITE-PROTECT''. Currently I have not tried any formatting because I do wish to get my photos first before attempting that. Is there any way to resolve this? Appreciate your kind advice!Thanks,Cozel\015

You don't state whether you've tried using the tiny switch located on the xD card to unlock it.

If it is already in the unlocked position then push it fully to the locked position and then fully back again.

If this does not work then please report back for additional options.
