Having problems with your Digital Cameras ?

I am using a Minolta 28-105 lens on my Sonny Agfa 100 camera. I have been told that is the same as a 50mm lens. I generally shoot at 105mm. Is there a better lens for close up photographs?

Answers :

Assuming you mean that this is a Sony Alfa A100....
\015\012Crop factor on this camera is 1.5 (it uses the same sensor as a Nikon D200). Crop factor means that since the sensor is actually smaller than the film negative size on a 35mm film camera, you end up with a longer lens by a factor of 1.5....so the 28 x 1.5 is about 42. The 105 x 1.5 is about 158. So your 28-105 mm lens is now a 42-158mm lens.
\015\012As far as closeups go, this would do fine, depending on the minimum focus distance.
\015\012You can do closeups with just about any lens, the trick is if you want to do macro photography where you desire the object to be nearly life size. I doubt that's what you want, though.
\015\012If you want to get closer, buy a set of closeup "lenses" (actually more of a filter) for your lens. These screw onto the threads like a filter does, and they will magnify by a factor of two or more. They come in a set, and you can use more than one at a time.
\015\012The other closeup trick is to use the lowest f-stop you can. This will narrow up the depth of field and give a blurred background.
\015\012If you really want to buy a new lens for closeups, get a 50mm lens that shoots at f1.8 or better, and a closeup filter/lens set.

Hi, Just need advice on which is a better Lumix to buy- LX3 or FZ 40. In terms of i mage quality, shooting at night mode, and quality of lens. Am no professional photographer but would love to get features beyond the simple point and shoot. thanks, Aida

I am shooting with a 10mm - 22mm lens - however that should not matter. Frequently my camera cannot find a focal point and therefore i cannot active the shutter release. Nikon 18-200mm VR lens doesn't seem to want to AF focus at full focal length 200mm distance. I bought this lens second hand on ebay and am not certain if there is a problem with this lens. 62 size I am assuming that the 62 size will be perfect and it will leave the lens as close to the filter as possible? Is this what I should be shooting for? What if I want to add a macro or a wide-angle lens? Would I need any more adapters to attach another lens, or does it dpend on the lens?

If you want to add other lenses, either macro, wide angle, telephoto or just filters, they go directly on the adapter. That's why the thread size (62mm) is important because that's the best fit for that adapter. If you get other sizes you can still u ... Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ20 Digital Camera

Fuji a345 I have a 2 year old Fuji a345 which periodically has a problem with the lens cover not opening and, of course, the lens not extending into position when the camera is powered on. Generally turning the camera off and on a few times will eventually result in the lens cover opening and allowing the lens to extend into proper position for shooting pictures. Any ideas.

When taking photos of large objects at a distance, wide-angle lenses are best. It will be dark outside so you will want one with a large aperture. I would probably go with the 17-55 f2.8. If you can find a lens similar to this, but with a wider apert ... Nikon Digital Cameras
