Canon Vixia HV30 - I have been reading a lot about it's much touted optical super zoom image stabilization but it either does not work the way it is supposed to or i am doing something wrong or it is another of those overhyped features that does not measure up to the real world scenarios. First of all, I'm inclined to agree with you, in the respect that their features are over-rated possibly, and hyped a bit. There are different types of image stabilization- mostly electrical and in this case, optical, per the specs. An optical stabilization system would be lens controlled, and on all the time, the way I perceive it.

\015\012Here's the description of the zoom from cnet:
\015\012
\015\012Its optically stabilized f1.8-3.0 12X zoom lens has a longer reach than the typical 10x lens available in this class, but the rest of its features are pretty common in Canon's prosumer models.
\015\012The new lens performs surprisingly well. Not only does the SuperRange optical image stabilization system work satisfactorily all the way out to the end, but the lens focuses quickly and holds the lock in both dim and bright conditions. images look sharp, too.
\015\012
\015\012From what the review said, I'm not sure even they understand the meaning of "optical stabilization", which could just be a feedback circuit adjusting the focal length, so actually an electrically controlled system, but no matter, they liked it.
\015\012
\015\012As for your situation: I would go to some kind of "Photo Hobbyists Club" meeting, and talk to the experienced fellows, unless you happen to find one on this site. Nothing speaks more truth than experience.
\015\012Good luck, and hope this helps.

I'm having problems with the settings on my Canon EOS 400D. When I take pictures in AV mode I can get quality pictures but in TV or M modes the pictures always come out so dark even when taking them outside in daylight. They are not coming back with a completely blank screen as I can see the outlines of the image. Even when I try different settings nothing improves the image.

My Fuji s2000 always shoots picture that are blured. I have tried many settings and different exposures however I keep getting the same result. What can I do ? The worst mode on this camera is the auto mode, I can never get a clear indoor picture. This camera takes beautiful pictures of flowers/nature and all outdoor photo's turn out beautiful it is the indoor photo's I have even tried the sports mode for when people move but I still get a very blured image

Viewfinder I just got my *ist DS Monday, and this is my first DSLR. I have a general question, which I hope you guys can help me with. The image framing from the viewfinder is significantly different from the finished photo. The finished product always has a wider angle of view from what I am seeing while framing the shot. At the widest setting, there isn't much difference. At full zoom with an attached Nikon 6t, the object I am shooting is large in the view finder, but it appears half sized

Viewfinder magnification has nothing to do with this. \015\012It's a framing accuracy, viewfinder coverage issue. \015\012\015\012\015\012Viewfinder magnification has to do with how large the focusing/framing field appears, optically, to your eye. Pe ... Pentax *ist DS Digital Camera

My SD800IS was working fine while in the very hot/humid environment of Yap. I took it out of my air conditioned room and went to take a picture almost immediately. The view finder, the LCD image and the lens were all fogged. The camera worked but took foggy images. Eventually the fog cleared and my photos were fine but most of the controls no longer work. I can change the selector knob that determines if the camera is on auto, manual, video or display modes but it won't zoom and the program

Fujifilm A330 My camera is doing something rather strange; it's always switched on by sliding the front shutter open all the way, and it's ceased turning on when I do that. I got a Nikon D5000 and 18-55mm lens. When I take pictures using focal between 18-24 mm the deep of field is not sharp especially for landscape pictures. I made at list 200 pictures (the same image) test and the conclusion was: between 18-24mm focal the far field is not clear but what it is close to lens is sharp. Dim Photos My G3 has begun to take very dim photos, all iso speeds are affected plus Auto mode. It can barely focus, even with the assist light on. If it was the light meter (setting too high an aperture?) it would probably be able to focus, right. When I take a picture it always sets f2.0 1/60 sec, even at iso400. Is it the image sensor?
