Having problems with your Digital Cameras ?

I own a Sony CCD-V99 Camera. It is well off any warranty. I have the camera case opened so that I can see all of the components. Ok, Harold, I have seen the other answers and must inform you that before you can do anything at all, you MUST obtain a Service Manual. Without one, is is nigh on impossible, for a qualified engineer, like me, to repair this unit.\015\012
\015\012Then you MUST start in the right place the Power Supply, as if this isn't 100% A OK, then nothing else can be.\015\012
\015\012Once all the correct voltages are established, then you troubleshoot along the findings you have gleaned from the PSU,and the troubleshooting steps in the manual\015\012
\015\012Also you need to be able to Communicate, with the proprietary software, via USB, Firewire, with the camera to be able to Put it into Service Mode, or you will NOT be able to do any repairs at all.and to be able to Run the Diagnostic functions to be able to determine whats wrong.\015\012
\015\012
\015\012It is a very difficult, to service a camera, and apart from the technical knowledge one must have the correct instruments too. Without these and a manual, even the most rudimentary repairs would not be possible.\015\012
\015\012I would imagine that your Mode Switch, has faulted, and/or the Tape loading Motor, may also be faulty, It;s impossible to tell without a manual and running the diagnostic software on the camera. This would give us the codes and tell us the area of trouble.\015\012
\015\012There is simply no way any Engineer could "talk me through this" (sic)\015\012as apart from anything else you have no software no manual? \015\012
\015\012it may be possible to assist IF you obtain such things but until then your request is unrealistic.\015\012
\015\012
I've seen your post on here for awhile now, so I will try to assist you. Chances are that only authorized repair centers have these service manuals, or the expert technicians who fix them, and it's not likely you'll get any help there, without paying the big bucks. Here is a site where you can get notification if/when a service manual is found for your precise model:
\015\012http://camera.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/sony/ccdv99.html
\015\012What you might try to do, however, is take the camcorder into a repair shop, and just tell the fellow you want to save the tape, and see if he knows a quick trick to get it out. You can always decline having it fixed, and give him $5 for his help. Then, you may have the mech back to an operable state, if you're lucky. At worse case, you're better off than now, and there's still a good chance you can fix it.
\015\012Anyway, good luck, thanks for using FixYa, and hope I helped a little, at least.

I have an older (1996) Sony Handycam CCD-TRV211. I am using the player to transfer my old 8mm tapes to my computer. The player will play for about 4 seconds then stop. Sometimes I have to physically assist the camera to eject the tape by precisely timing and placing hand pressure on the camera during the eject process. When I finall

I have a tape stuck in the Sony CCD V8afu video camera. When I press the "eject" button, the tape disengages from the recording head, rewinds and is ready for the tape carrier to "pop-up." It just does not "pop-up." Any solutions, as the stuck tape holds our childhood memories? Thanks.

From your description, it appears that the unload sequence is not completing. There is a small latch that moves to allow the cassette carrier to release. To reach this latch will require some dis-assembly. This is not an unusual failure and should ... Digital Cameras

My canon vixia hv30 camcorder is not reading tapes anymore. It rewinds and forwards and reports the tape position but the tape counter does not roll showing only dashes as if the tape is empty. All this started when i put in a cassette in which the tape has somehow become crunched. There was some pushing involved and the camera auto-ejected teh tape a couple of time before i realized that the tape inside was crunched. I then straightened the tape by pulling it partly out and rewinding it manual

Lens barrel is stuck in the out position on my Canon Powershot SD1100 IS. Error message reads: "Lens error, restart camera". To my knowledge the camera has not been dropped and the barrel seems to be properly aligned. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. O ... Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS Digital Camera

My Olympus u 750's telescopic zoom is jammed in the extended position. The cause seems to be the last segment of the zoom, containing the lens, which is not properly aligned with the other retractable zoom segments. I don't remember knocking the camera - not sure how this happened. Is this a common problem that can be fixed by gently forcing the crooked segment back into it proper place? Or if it has to be sent for repair, is it worth the trouble and cost?

My Canon ZR200 camera will not eject the tape. I never had this problem before. Camera has never been dropped but all of a sudden the message to eject tape showed up but it won't do it. After repeated emails to Canon it is evident that they are not going to give me the info to remove the tape myself. They want me to send it in (for a price to be determined after I send it in) or to trade up at a cost. I don't want to do either, just get the tape out of camera. I don't even care if it never work

I have the same problemI think that the reason that the not record the image is that the card slot door is pushing down on the card eject lever and ejecting the card when the door is closedThe only answer I can think of is to shorten the leverdavidh ...
