How can I set my nikon D300 to take pictures in really dark lighting? I do not want to use a flash.
Set the ISO to a higher number and put the camera on a tripod because the shutter will remain open for an extended period of time. You may have to experiment with the ISO setting and also exposure compensation to get the exact result you're looking for.

I have a Nikon D300. I can't seem to figure out what's wrong, I assume it's a setting issue. In low light situations even with the flash I can't seem to stop action or even properly light things. I have had any kind of issue like this on a camera before. In situations where I should be able to handhold I am using a monopod. I know there is enough light to not have to handhold, I mean I am using the flash. Frankly even with available light this should not be an issue.

I am using an Olympus E-500. and am trying to use the built in flash, set to one eight or to one sixty fourth of normal output, to trigger an external flash unit. The camera is set to "Vivid", manual, auto focus, and iso 100. From the "manual flash" menu I should be able to select either full, 1/4. 1/16 or 1/64 of the output. However, those choices never light up. I keep cycling through the first two lines of the menu and never reach the third line with the light output options I want. P

Close-up picture Hi! I purchased my camera to take up close-up pictures of handmade greeting cards. The cards are 4" x 5 1/2" with lots of little details. I'd like to show as much detail as possble. I'm not sure what the best setting are? I've tried using the flash, but the whole picture just glares out, the light bounces off of the card and makes a big glare in the center. Without the flash, the picture is too dark. Can you help me figure out the best setting to use? Or, what kind of lighting

I have a nikon d200. The last time I used it (only a few days ago) it was fine, everything normal. Then yesterday I pull out out of the case and everything seems to be going wrong. It is metering INSANELY low, like a shutter speed of 100 in full daylight produces a REALLY dark image. It won't auto focus at all, and i am unable to change the fstop in manual or aperture priority modes. I tried to restore it to factory settings and the lcd screen flashed to indicate it had been restored but no luck

I'm trying to take night shots over a river with the lights from the buildings and all i'm getting is a very dark picture, took a few using the night snap, night scene, with and without flash and none are very good.... haven't really studied the book into the night side of it and not much on the pages i am looking at so was wondering what settings do i need to get a fantastic pic, thanks
Try Shutter Priority mode (Tv). Adjust the shutter time for an extended shot of several seconds or more. Of course, recommend using a tripod to do this, and using the camera's timer to take the shot to minimize camera shake. ... Canon PowerShot SX100 IS Digital Camera

Hi i am using a Nikon N75 to take pictures for my photo class, and the instructor wants us to take low light indoor phtotos at a shutter speed of 1/30 at f2.2. However, when i go to set these settings in manual mode the camera will not let me set my aperture to 2.2 it usually stops at 4 and there is no way i can make it 2.2. i didn't know if there is a limitation on the camera but it seems like i should be able to select what i want.
It's probably a limitation of your lens. You didn't say what lens you're using, but one of the common kit lenses sold with the N75 only goes to f/3.3 at best. If you had a lens that opens up more, the camera will let you use it.The differ ... Nikon Digital Cameras
Nikon CoolPix S500 shows colored lines on lcd and in photos where the lights are bright. I have restored settings tried using it with no flash, soft flash, and auto flash and the problem continues. Hello jenmardi,First, the fstop and shutter speed question ... For a lens of 70 mm I would use the manual with shutter speed at least 1/250 or 1/500, then the fstop I would set at 2.8 or just under this, no more than 4. You need as much l ... Nikon D200 Digital Camera with 18-200mm Lens
