Can a metz cl45 external flash gun be used on the 9600? Thanks Steve

Answers :

Without knowing what a 9600 is I cannot be sure, but the cl45 has a flsh connection cord to be conected to your cameras X sync port. This means the camera will only trigger the flash and the flash unit does all the calculations on its own (ie it does not work as a dedicated flash unit in this mode). You may be able to get a hot shoe connector to get some of teh cameras functions controlling the flash unit, but the amount of control the camera can send to the flash unit will depend on how old the flash unit is and whether it has these functions to start with.

A Canon A570IS will power on and and everything works with external power (3.5-3.7V, 2A. 3rd party) but is dead with batteries (two fresh alkaline or NIMH AAs). Again, lens, flash, storage, LCD, etc. work with external power, but not with batteries. I am at a loss. Any suggestions?

When shooting indoors with my 300d (base rebel digital),I have been encountering some light metering problems.I use the 430ex as an external flash. While shooting a subject in front of an external light source-(window, etc.), no matter how small of the frame area include the outside light source, the cameras light meter will invaribly expose the entire image based on the outside ambient light, causing the image to be grossly underexposed. Do you have an explanation/solution for this aggrivating

Set the metering mode to Partial Metering. This uses only 9% of the field of view, centered around the middle square in the viewfinder, as the subject area. If you still find it too bright, try changing the exposure compensation a couple of clicks. ... Canon Digital Cameras
