Having problems with your Digital Cameras ?

The camera will not focus so all pictures are blurry. The camera was dropped in the sand and i think the lens may be scratched. Is there anyway to remove the lens to check?

Answers :

Most likely sand got in to the lens, and is jamming the focusing gears. Also, if the lens is scratched, the elements would be permanently damaged.
\015\012The inside construction of the lens on these cameras is very fine like a watch. There are very precise alignments that are done on a columator during the assembly.
\015\012At the service department the lens is changed as a complete unit when it is defective.
\015\012At this point you probably have nothing to lose by taking the camra apart. I myself would be curious to find out what the repair would cost before taking it apart myself.
\015\012Out of warranty repairs on your camera may not be worth the cost of the parts and labour. You could take it to the manufacture service rep for an estimate. I think you will be shopping for a new camera when you find out the cost of servicing it in relation to replacing it.

Hi--I have a panasonic lumix DMC-FP8, which I bought in May 2010. The camera is great for outdoor landscapes, etc. but I've had problems with low lighting and red eye. The camera has trouble focusing on the subjects, and there are often white spots all over the picture (even though I've cleaned the lens and checked to see if there were scratches or dirt on it). In addition to this, I have the red eye setting on, but I still get really awful red eye in all of my pictures. The camera is still new

Camera worked great since Dec. 2005. When camera was brought back from the beach, since then photos are not in focus. Looking through the viewfinder is not in focus either. I loaned it to my granddaughter. Was assured camera did not get wet. Have blown compressed air in all crevices on the outside to remove possible sand. Camera had stopped with zoom lens out, not retracted. I replaced battery pack. Everything else seems fine with the new battery pack, but the focus.

No power I turned the camera on and the lens came out then the screen went blank. I thought the battery may be low even though it was recently charged, so I put it on the charger. The orange charge light did not come on. I removed the battery and checked it with a voltmeter and it was showing 8.4 volts. Everything points to a blown fuse or something like that. Is there a fuse in the camera? Hope you can help Neil Low

My Nikon S210 is not focusing correctly. It's just recently started to act in this manner. I had a 'lens error' screen this summer after getting some sand in the lens from my pocket and I beat that one by 100's of 'on' then 'off' attempts and removing the battery when it wouldn't turn off. Literally a couple hundred times over the course of a week and it finally came around and started operating correctly. I've taken maybe 50 pictures since then and kept the camera in it's case when in my pock

While at the beach, someone threw a frizbee at my wife and she dropped the camera in the sand. We were careful as we could be picking it up to avoid entrance of sand into the camera. It worked fine until the next day and the lens opened and stuck. I opened the case to remove and sand that entered the camera. While removing the flash it went off and now the camera doesn't even turn on. I assume something touched and blew a fuse. Is this fixable and if so where do I start?

I have a Canon Digital Rebel XT camera using a 75-300mm telephoto lens. My problem with the lens is that at times it is hard to adjust the focus either manually or automatically with the camera. I hear something rattling around inside the lens and at times the lens will not auto-focus and I have to remove the lens and manually twist it to get it back to some normal operation. Is this fixable or do I need a new lens?

Lens Error My daughter and I just got back from a trip to St Croix. We stayed at a resort on the beach and also went snorkeling. The camera was exposed to sand and water. While snorkeling we had the camera in a zip-loc bag so I do not believe it got water in it but I know that while on the beach it may have gotten sand on it. Now the lens won't retract and we are getting a "lens error 12". Any suggestions? Thanks

I have a Nikon D40 which is coming upto being two years old. Recently I have noticed that the auto-focus will not work. If I manually focus I can still take photos but when auto is engaged it will not even try to focus and therefore will not allow me to take a photo. Canon EOS Rebel XT with EFS 18-55mm lens. Trouble-free for two years. During a weekend of lots of use, suddenly the camera would not autofocus. Switching to manual focus, the camera worked. Trouble focusing I am using my D60 with a 18-55mm lens, i have it set on auto its been working fine until recently when it is unable able to focus when i press on the release button. All that seems to happen is the lens keep going in and out where it is trying to focus. I have removed the lens and checked the contact but its still not working help!!!

Not too many things that can do this are simple, but here are a few you can check. First, make sure you aren't too close for the lens to focus. For the 18-55, that's only about 5" from the front of the lens, so I doubt this is the problem. \ ... Nikon D60 Digital Camera

Does anyone have instructions for getting at the lens mechanism? I totally understand the risks of doing this myself, but the cost of getting a shop to do this is nearly as much as a new camera! I am sure the problem is caused by sand. The lens at first just went in and out a few time, before the camera turned off. I vacuumed it, then slapped it against the side of my hand whilst turning it on - now it turns on properly with the lens out, but it wont focus - so you can only take blurry photo
