Exposure Compensation (-2.0EV to +2.0EV in 1/3EV increments) whats best for cybershot p71

Answers :

That depends on the current situation. The exposure compensation merely subtracts or adds exposure to the "best" setting as determined by the camera's meter. The camera works on the assumption that your subject is composed of "middle gray" tones.

For a backlit subject, for example, you might want to add some exposure to bring out details in the subject at the expense of blowing out the highlights in the background. If you're taking a picture of a black cat sitting on black asphalt, you'd probably want to subtract exposure so you don't get a gray cat on a gray background. If you have a white dog in the snow, you'd want to add exposure so you don't get a gray dog on a gray background.\012\012\012

Again, there is no such thing as a "best" setting. There is only a "best" setting for a particular picture-taking situation, and even then the setting depends on your artistic inclinations.

Hi all, I wonder if you can supply some advice regarding a Sigma17-35mm lens I purchased earlier in the year. Basically if I use the automatic or 'P' setting on my Canon EOS 30D camera the image is over exposed by 1 to 2 stops. If I use the same functions with my Canon 18 -55 kit lens the exposure is correct so I would presume the camera is not causing the problem. The only way I can get a correct exposure with the Sigma lens is to compensate manually for each shot. Please note the exposure p

This is a mind bender, While doing a shoot using monolights connected to a Nikon D1x I encountered exposure problems. After the lights were metered for the best exposure, I started shooting. The first ten or so shots were fine, and all of a sudden the next ten shots looked like they were 8 stops over, and then it went to looking ok. The first thing I did was switch monolights thinking there was a problem with the flash, this did not resolve the issue. Next I switched camera bodies, still the int

I tried to take a shot of the Vanderbilt baseball stadium, and it came out a little soft and out of focus.
