Having problems with your Digital Cameras ?

I have an older pair of zoom lense Bushnell binoculars, 40mm with 7 to 21 power. I used to have a cabin in a very humid, mildewy area of Florida and it seems that the mold (mildew) has found its way into the lens whereupon it really messes up the viewing. I took the end pieces off and cleaned the insides with camera lens cleaning items and that helped, but I think the eye pieces need to be removed to finish the job. How do you do that? I'm not sure they are screwed onto the body! Has anyo

Answers :

I am not familiar with this make, nor with zoom binoculars in general, but for a normal binocular of traditional design, you can take the eyepieces off together, as a unit, by dismantling the focussing mechanism. This is likely to be complicated by the zoom in your case.

The central focussing knob will cause the eyepieces to retract somewhat from the barrel of the binoculars, but this movement is soon halted. The thing that stops it is a clip or screw-head on the far end of the shaft of the screw that goes through the focussing knob. This is in a recessed hole at the other end of the hinge from the knob, covered by a little plate that you can unscrew. Then the plot varies from one pair to another. With some pairs you need to unscrew the sleeve bolt that acts as the hinge pin in order to get to the retaining clip. Some on the job learning needed.

Once you have the retaining clip or screw removed, you can use the focus knob to screw both eyepieces and their hinge right out of the binoculars, giving you access to the inner lens and prism surfaces.

I don't promise you that it will be easy to get back together! Make notes and don't drop any bits.

I have a Sony DSC-W370 and the outermost glass lens has been scratched (by a piece of sand, I think). It's ruining every shot I take, really, but everything else on the camera works fine. I can't seem to find a replacement part and I wouldn't know how to fix it even if I had a spare. How would I take it apart, for example? What I'm wondering is whether it would be possible to have this outside piece of glass polished and if I do would it ruin the image? I was thinking of taking it to an e
