Having problems with your Digital Cameras ?

I.m a beginner of photography. I have a Pentax Kx and a brand new shiny DA Limited lens - 35mm 2.8 macro. I tried to take some macro shots but it couldn't even find the focus but when I use it as a normal lens, it's ok but I can't see much difference with a point and shoot. I need to develop a technically critical eye. I need an expert to help me with this lens on a regular basis. Anyone interested? And how do you charge?

You will need to start by understanding the need of the shutter speed and the aperture settings. The image you pictured must be taken in such a manner to get the impact on the memory.
\015\012This will require a lot of logic by controlling the speed and aperture with respect to the situation and the light available. I request you start by taking portrait's, landscapes , scenery and then come down to do the micro/macro works. Experience is necessary and so you need to practice and check your result with the work. make notes of the settings, change them and see the difference so that you can improvise.

I am not that familiar with your camera, But I have been shooting for 40 years. The depth of field in macro is very short, focusing is, well, it has to be perfect or else. If the camera lens is not an auto focus, It might be the problem. You really don't need a teacher for this stuff, There are volumes of books written on the subject, If you can't follow a book, (I can't) maybe a teacher would be helpful. I found one book by Time life, called "the camera", to be very helpful. You can probably find one on ebay. Depth of field used to be the most important part of photography, now it has been replaced by "automatic" but in the old days, you would determine depth of field before the shot was taken, all other settings were taken after the F stop was set. There was no automatic, You either knew, you guessed, or you had a light meter. I got pretty good at guessing. Especially asa 400 in Florida's sun, everything was fast and f16. Hope this helps. Viewfinder I just got my *ist DS Monday, and this is my first DSLR. I have a general question, which I hope you guys can help me with. The image framing from the viewfinder is significantly different from the finished photo. The finished product always has a wider angle of view from what I am seeing while framing the shot. At the widest setting, there isn't much difference. At full zoom with an attached Nikon 6t, the object I am shooting is large in the view finder, but it appears half sized

Viewfinder magnification has nothing to do with this. \015\012It's a framing accuracy, viewfinder coverage issue. \015\012\015\012\015\012Viewfinder magnification has to do with how large the focusing/framing field appears, optically, to your eye. Pe ... Pentax *ist DS Digital Camera
