What is a compression technique which means that the image does not lose any quality when it is compreesd

Answers :

The only way to avoid any loss of image quality is to save the picture in DNG, RAW, or TIFF format. Any JPEG compression will always lose some quality, though the amount can be varied on most cameras. Depending on the make and model of the camera, the best quality (least loss) will be something like "Best," "Fine," or "Superfine." Consult your manual for the choices available on your camera.
If you need further assistance, please feel free to ask. But please specify the make and model of your camera.

We have a Technika SH-8360, and it appears that the image quality has decreased dramatically, and now the pictures are of a lot lower quality and much grainier than before. What would cause this? Would this have anything to do with the camera losing it's megapixels?

Cameras don't lose megapixels but users can change the settings for them. Go into the menu and see if your camera is set for the maximum number of megapixels and the highest picture quality. ... Digital Cameras

Message Display I have a 256MB memory card for my camera. I have not taken many photos. Even at the lowest picture quality setting of 640, the camera reads that I only have 146 images to take. When I try to review what is in the camera, I receive the message "No Valid Image to Play." The instruction manual explains that the message means. However, I was not able to find anything that tells what to do to increase the number of available photos from 146 to more. This problem happened once

Image quality Hi. When I'm taking photos and set my exposure manually on my Canon 20D, the image looks right exposed on my LCD screen, but when I download all the photos on my PC, all the photos are VERY DARK. Canon Powershot G10 image quality problems... I have had my Canon Powershot G10 for 2 years and have had the same problem from the start... it is now driving me mad! When viewing photos in anything other than the supplied Canon Zoom Browser or Photo Professional the quality is poor. The images are noticeably blurred and appear grainy. I normally shot in manual mode with ISO80 and record images in RAW+JPEG. Processing the RAW photos seems to slightly improve the blur (though it is still there)

My Dimage A1 camera has been fuctioning perfectly. Recently, I changed from JPEG to RAW and took several images. I now am attempting to return to JPEG without success. I believe I am following instructions correctly on pages 80, 81, & 82 of the Instruction Manual, but I apparently am missing a step or two somewhere. Grainy Pictures I received this camera as a Christmas gift, this past Christmas, and I have not been able to get a decent photo from it yet. The indoor photos are very grainy with a bubble sometimes in the photo. Outdoor photos are too light and also grainy, especially when the zoom is used. I have tried adjusting the image quality and the ISO setting but neither of these adjustments have improved the quality of the pictures.
