My Canon EOS rebel suddenly won't take pictures in dim light. The flash pops up and blinks and blinks trying to register the image but won't ever autofocus and take the picture. The light has to be very bright for it to take a picture. I have gone through all of the settings and everything seems to be correct. Any thoughts?
To autofocus the sensor needs a fair amount of contrast (light and dark eges) to operate. If you're trying to take a photo in a dim room of a dark colored subject for instance the focus won't lock and the camera won't take the picture. Try switching ... My Canon Rebel XS will not auto focus correctly. It sounds like it is trying to focus, but only flashes and will not focus or take the picture.
Those quick fast flashes usually mean the camera is trying to find contrast to take the photo but it can't. Hi. I have a Nikkon D3000, a Sigma 105mm lens, and a round flash ring. I have the settings as: ISO: 200, Shutter Speed: 1/200, F25 for close teeth photos and F8 for face shots. Now I am a dentist and first time user of this camera got the settings from a dental photography website. The proble is: When I take pictures with the flash ring on they turn up black, without the flash ring on and the camera flash on, the pictures turn out clear buy very dark. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Nikon D40 pictures taken but too dark even in AUTO mode with flash on a bright day. also, some days ago I had the Shutter release error message while taking some photos. After that, the camera is acting weird, pictures sometimes are taken but the picture is always dark, although flash is used and AUTO mode selected. I do not see the error message anymore, but the camera simply do not take pictures properly. I tried formatting, etc with no result.

My canon powershot s3 IS is taking really dark pictures. The only decent pictures I can take with it are outside in sunlight. Pics indoors come out dark and grainy. I flip up the flash, but most of the time the flash doesn't go off, like there is enough light. And then when it does go off, the picture is way too bright. Help please!!
This is not an answer. The S3 normally does not produce dark pictures, and I have seen this issue before. It has to do with a setting somewhere on that camera that needs to be adjusted. I wish I knew what that setting was/is as my wife's camer ... Canon PowerShot S3 IS Digital Camera
LCD/Recording Picture When I take a picture, the camera will only record about 1/4 of the picture on the LCD screen, then rest of the image is black. I was taking lots of pictures before that and the image recorded on the LCD. All of a sudden (in the mdidle of taking lots of pictures), I noticed the the whole image was not recording. I have changed the battery, changed Compact Flash Cards and nothing corrects it. Even when I upload the picture to the computer, the image is only one about 1/4

Button-be-dead Ok, so this might sound kind of stupid but my camera was in my purse and I didn't drop it or anything, but when I went to take it out to take pictures, the button you push to take the picture was already half down so it won't stop auto-focusing. I can't zoom in or out, look through my pictures, turn the flash off, delete pictures, or change picture styles. I know it's because of the button already being down halfway but I really need to know how to fix it and get the button back
Thanks for posting this article as I had no idea of the cause and was suspecting a firmware/software fault.\015\012\015\012I had the same problem a few days ago. As my camera was out of warranty and the advice from a salesperson in a well known chain ... Canon PowerShot A75 Digital Camera

Camera flash i generally use my camera on auto mode so i don't have to play around with buttons! however after loaning my camera to my sister for a week my flash is no longer as great as it was!! I used to take pics and the flash would light 2-3 times giving a great, bright picture. It now flashes once before the pic is snapped giving a dark picture. If i push the flash button on the left side of the scrolling circle it goes from red eye flash (which flashes once) to no flash! I'm almost certain
No worries, I think I can help you with this one.\015\012I believe that if you are using your Samsung Digimax in either "Auto" or "M" mode you will only have the options of "red eye flash" or "no flash". BUT HOWEVER, if you select the "Prog" mo ... Samsung Digimax S600 Digital Camera
Flash When I take pictures, all of the faces are completely whited out. It's like the flash is too bright but when I adjust the flash, then it's too dark. I'm sort of confused as to what to do. I would love to be able to use the flash without whiting out all the faces and bleaching out the background. I've tried adjusting the brightness and the flash but that doesn't work. Is there anything else I'm doing wrong?
I rally dont know, i personally always keep my flash on auto and keep the brightness auto or 50%. if this is the case, then i strongly recommend contacting Sony and asking them for a solution, or taking it down to the store you purchased it from and ... Sony Cybershot S650 Digital Camera
Hello. I have problems taking pictures with my Cobra DCA1030 indoors. The flash either seems to be entirely too bright or if I don't use the flash the picture is too dark. Pictures taken outdoors turn out fine but I wish I could use it indoors as well. I wasn't sure if there were any recommended settings that would make for better indoor pictures? Thank you, Jason S

Hi, I have just bought the Fuji JX530. When I take a picture I get a split second clicking sound coming from the lens before the flash goes and the picture is taken. The picture is fine and the mechanism moves smoothly when turned on/off and zoomed in/out. Is this just the normal operating sound of the lens or something else ??
When you press the button, the camera performs many functions in a split second such as set the focus, set the aperture and shutter speed, calculate the flash power, etc. It will make sounds and if the pictures are fine, then all is well. ... Digital Cameras
