Answers :

It's most likely that your camera has a lens error, this\015\012 is such a common fault that I hope you don't mind me pasting my stock \015\012generic answer below. No point in reinventing the wheel!

Stuck lenses are probably the most common \015\012reason that compact digital cameras get thrown away, but there's a fair \015\012chance of recovering use of your camera again

The fault is \015\012commonly caused by dirt or grit blocking the mechanism, or due to it \015\012having suffered a recent fall. Another common cause is that the camera \015\012was in a pocket or bag and the power button accidentally activated and \015\012tried to open the lens against resistance. The mechanism may have simply\015\012 become \015\012dislodged or there may be parts which have broken.

If your camera\015\012 is still under warranty and has definitely not been subject to misuse \015\012then contact the Akai service department in your country to find out about a free repair. If \015\012the warranty has expired though a professional repair will far exceed \015\012the\015\012 cost of replacing your camera. You will therefore have nothing to lose \015\012by \015\012trying to fix this yourself.

Please click here\015\012 and you will be taken to an excellent article provided by the Camera \015\012Repair website. For the most part, you'll be guided on how to physically\015\012 manipulate your camera to try and clear the fault. Although the article\015\012 mentions Canon a few times, the advice applies equally to all cameras \015\012with lens errors and is not model-specific.

I have a Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4.5 Macro lens working on a Nokon D40X and Nikon D300. For medium to long distances the autofocus does not seem to work with this lens. I think it used to but now I notice that from about 40 feet away the autofocus does not work. The same happens with both cameras. Other lenses work fine so I don't think it is the camera. Is there any history of problems or is it a feature of the lens? thanks, Richard Brand

My Nikon D40 with Nikkor 18-55mm (owned about 15 months) had a puddle of some fluid under it today (lubricant?) I noticed a fluid around the lens when you adjust it. We took the lens off, and reattached it but is says lens is not attached. Do you think this is a camera or a lens problem? Lens Problem I have a C-8080 and I like it but I'm not sure if it is working 100%. The lens barrel is sloppy from side to side and clunks slightly when moving it quickly. It has been that way since it was new. It has some issues with auto focus as well. It has a hard time focusing on clouds and soft objects at infinity. I called Olympus when I bought the camera and mentioned the sloppy lens barrel and they told me that that is the way there made. It is slow to focus when going from close objects

Camera lens movement mechanism seems to be damaged, as when switched on, the camera lens does not extend out completely and the object appears blurred on the screen. Similarly when switched off, the lens does not retract back completely and it needs a manual push to put it in a little more. But even then it does not go in fully. Rest of the functions are working well. The damage is the result of an accidental body weight going on the camera, when it was in on condition.

Lens error When I turn on Nikon Cool Pix S230, it tries to adjust the lens for a little bit then it says lens error.  It is only a few months old.  I think what caused the problem was the last time I took  a picture there was a strobe light in the background which caused the picture to look funny.  Then a few days later when I tried to work the camera I got this problem.  thank you!

Slow camera Thank you for the suggestions. I got the camera about 6 years ago and it worked fine. The problem started recently, over the last few months. It cannot be related to the card, or the processor. They were the same when it worked well. It is charging up very slowly.
