Having problems with your Canon Digital Cameras ?

I have a Canon IXUS 800, the shutter won't open properly, just opens about a millimetre. I don't want to break it as otherwise it is an excellent camera. I think it might have some dust in the shutter mechanism as we are using it to photograph an old farm we are renovating which is often a bit dusty even though we take care to put the camera into its cover after use. Can anyone suggest what is best to do please?

Canon Powershot A610 digital camera--LCD screen shows icons, but otherwise is blank--there is no visible movement in the lens when I take a picture without flash--have tried setting it on TV setting and taking a picture, then opening the battery cover for a few seconds after waiting 7 seconds or so, but no images on the LCD except the camera's icons--ideas? probably a stuck shutter, or is it still possibly the CCD sensor even though there's no visible movement in the lens? Ideas? Thanks!

Much more likely that it's a stuck shutter, especially for your model camera. How many tries did you give the fix? Some people stated that it took at least 15 repeated tries before the shutter opened:\015\012\015\012\015\012 ... Canon PowerShot A610 Digital Camera

Shutter speed very slow and has trouble focusing. When I press the the shutter button it takes several seconds before it takes a picture if at all. It seems as though it is having trouble focusing and when it does take a picture it is useally out of focus.

On my Sony Cybershot DSC-P8 camera, the shutter will not operate when I press the shutter button to take a picture. Everything else seems to be working. This happened all of a sudden. The camera took about 8 pictures, then after turning it off for about 2 hours, it would not take any more pictures. Shutter speed I cannot remember the aperture, but when I try to take a picture of the moon with my FZ20, even @ 2.8 aperture, I certainly do not have 1/100s shutter speed, but more like 1/10 or even less (P mode). I wonder if there is a problem with my camera ? How can I check that it is correct ? Can someone with experience of moon shot give me some "standard" shutter/aperture so I can compare ?

Rule of thumb I read was f11 and then 1/ISO for shutter speed. This means that if you're using ISO 100, you use 1/100. ISO 80, then 1/80. White balance set to SUN (because moon is reflecting sunlight).\015\012\015\012Wait! My camera doesn't do f11!!! ... Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ20 Digital Camera

LCD White-out I have had this Fuji FinePix A350 since Christmas 2006. This August while on vacation and taking quite a few pictures with a new 1GB XD card, the LCD screen would come on with a blank white screen as the camera was turned on. I continued to take photos using the optical viewfinder to frame my pictures, hoping that it was still working even if I couldn't view them. Shutter release I just purchased this camera and while I was taking a photo indoors I pressed the upflash button and eversince then every single button I press on the camera (including the off switch) sets off the shutter release. My d5000 fell on the floor and the filter glass of the lens broke. i tried taking pictures to see if it's still working but the view from the viewfinder is darker than usual and it would not take pics even if i press the shutter release button. should broken filter glass prevent taking pictures or does this mean there is another damage to the camera apart from the broken filter glass?

The filter should have nothing to do with the images recorded on camera (I assume it's an UV- or skylight filter).I'd say there's some more serious damage to your camera and you should take it to an authorized dealer repair shop. ... Nikon D5000 Digital Camera
