My 2 year old son dropped the my husband's Canon G11 twice while it was open with the lens out. Now the lens won't retract or the shutter close. It gives me a 'lens error, restart camera' message and won't restart. I tried taking out the battery for a few minutes and replacing it and reopening the camera, but to no avail. I'm afraid of taking it to someone and having it opened as I know that the chances of damaging it that way are bigger. Please provide me with your soonest reply. Rania

Hi Rania. If you go with a place that knows what they're doing, the camera will be perfect again, sometimes even better as they'll service it all up at the same time. A site that a lot of people go to for help with the Canon Powershots is: ... Canon PowerShot G11 Digital Camera

I have a Canon 40D and tried to use my Sigma 28-300 1:3.5-6.3 DL Hyperzoom lens on it but the camera kept telling me that it could not communicate with the lens and that I should clean the lens contacts. I cleaned the contacts several times (which were not dirty) but still got the same results. The lens is 5 or so years old, is it possible that the lens is not compatible with the 40D?

It could be that the lens, being so old, needs a firmware update. Go to http://www.sigmaphoto.com/service-support for a service form and instructions. ... Digital Cameras

My Canon DSLR Rebel XS is one year old. When I look through the lens, the image is blurry, but when I shoot the picture it looks OK on the preview screen. I am guessing this is a problem with the camera body because I see the same blurry image when I use a different lens.

Many thanks to everybody for your help, saves money and time. J.

Canon iXUS 750 approx 3 years old. Getting E18 message. Lens will not retract, unable to take photos. Camera not dropped.

It seems to me that Nikon Point & Shoot cameras, or at least the last 2 that I have bought, have a usable life span of approx 4 or so years before the LCD's decide not to work in turn, makes the camera non usable. I have a 5700, 3.5 years old before it stopped working & a S4, which the LCD also quit working and it is 4 years old, I think my next point & shoot will be a Canon to go along with it's big brother that I bought this year, 50D Does anyone have a solution to this Nikon problem? Hi all, I wonder if you can supply some advice regarding a Sigma17-35mm lens I purchased earlier in the year. Basically if I use the automatic or 'P' setting on my Canon EOS 30D camera the image is over exposed by 1 to 2 stops. If I use the same functions with my Canon 18 -55 kit lens the exposure is correct so I would presume the camera is not causing the problem. The only way I can get a correct exposure with the Sigma lens is to compensate manually for each shot. Please note the exposure p

Canon EOS Rebel XT with EFS 18-55mm lens. Trouble-free for two years. During a weekend of lots of use, suddenly the camera would not autofocus. Switching to manual focus, the camera worked. Then it started working okay in autofocus. Later that day quit altogether. (Would not release shutter even in manual mode.) Removed the lens and cleaned the contacts on both lens and camera, started working okay but only temporary. Went through several cycles of this over the weekend, so I'm not sure
