Having problems with your Canon Digital Cameras ?

When shooting indoors with my 300d (base rebel digital),I have been encountering some light metering problems.I use the 430ex as an external flash. While shooting a subject in front of an external light source-(window, etc.), no matter how small of the frame area include the outside light source, the cameras light meter will invaribly expose the entire image based on the outside ambient light, causing the image to be grossly underexposed. Do you have an explanation/solution for this aggrivating

Answers :

Set the metering mode to Partial Metering. This uses only 9% of the field of view, centered around the middle square in the viewfinder, as the subject area. If you still find it too bright, try changing the exposure compensation a couple of clicks.

I first experienced a problem with my Canon S2Is camera when it was only taking pictures of blank images. I found a "fix" recommendation which seems to have gotten rid of the black image problem. However, now when I take pictures the images seem to have horizonal lines through them if I don't use the flash. Also, if I am taking a picture outside or in a lot of light, the image ends up being extremely light. Have any suggestions?

Think you need to do the fix more. Believe your shutter was previously stuck in the closed position. Now it sounds like it is stuck in the open position. Again keep trying the fix to loosen it up. Just to confirm, the "fix" you're talking about i ... Canon PowerShot S2 IS Digital Camera

I have a samsung digimax S600 camera. From not too long back i have been having problems with the image quality of pictures clicked in broad day light in the outdoor. There is no problem, however, indoors whatever the light condition. Also, if i shoot a video using the camera, even on the outdoors, i get satisfactory results (not any different from earlier). What could be the problem? Thanks.

The shutter is not closing completely. The video function does not use the shutter so is not affected by it. You will need to have the shutter cleaned, inspected for obstructions. ... Fuji FinePix S700 Digital Camera

Canon SD600 I used my camera to take pictures of fireworks and I noticed that afterwards, all the photos I was taking outside in daylight were turning white. If I take pictures in the dark, they turn out perfect, and low light pictures are fairly normal except anywhere where there is a light source (lamp, window, etc) the color is streaky and orange. This particular camera has no way to adjust the aperture settings and I am considering taking it to a shop to have it looked at. Is there anything

It sounds like you may be in a low light mode. Put the camera in record mode, and then press the set button (in the middle of the up down left right keys). You probably want the camera to be in automatic mode (or A). If this doesn't solve the prob ... Canon PowerShot SD600 Digital Camera

White Balance images are redish. I'm using studio strobs. One 32inch soft box and one 4 inch umbrella. Modle light only in soft box. ISO100 Shutter 125 f:8 exposure determine with light meter. Also using expo disc pointing back at camera location between both light sourced to determine custom white balance. My main subjects are black people. The room is also lit with tunsent light 10 feet high. Thanks. Lee

With your D200, you can use the kelvin temperature mode instead the other. As I work in TV where we do the white balance very often, I can guess what's the Kelvin temperature when I shoot. I only use Kelvin now on the D200 and it's more reliable! ... Nikon D200 Digital Camera with 18-200mm Lens

I recently used my 860G on a diving trip to Roatan. After shooting some terrestrial pictures (outside the housing), I shut the camera off. When I tried to restart it, the Sea & Sea logo illuminates and the green indicator light flashes for a few seconds but the lens fails to extend. The camera shuts itself off after a few seconds. The battery is fully charged (I've tried several). The picture viewing mode works fine...the camera just refuses to enter the picture taking mode. Any help out t

Vertical Lines I just got my new camera (Canon Powershot A1100IS), and took some pictures in a strong light. The sharp images came out no problem. I was taking test photos around the house with my new camera and the flash won't fire properly (the flash pops up out of the camera but it makes little sparking sounds and flickering on and off). I've tried various modes including auto night etc but it won't stop flickering (just sparking sounds and a flickering flash like a light bulbs does just before it blows).also I have tried taking images using the basic auto mode in a low lit area and the flash pops up but does not fire.

My camera was recently bought at goodwill, and the CCD imager needs to be replaced I think. Every time that I go to take a picture, there is a streak of light running up and down the screen when I am near a light source. Will the fact that I bought it at goodwill effect the warranty in any way? Will it still be free to fix?

Broken My camera fell from less than a foot off the ground, and there is no external damage. Everything works, including when I play back pictures and videos, but when i put the camera in shooting mode, the screen displays pink stripes. And when i try to take a picture, the screen turns purple and pink psychedelic.

If the screen is okay when playing back pictures, then the screen is okay. It sounds more like an issue with one of the small ribbon connectors between the lens assembly, that contains the CCD, and the main board. The lens unit floats in the chassi ... Fuji FinePix Z100fd Digital Camera

Exposure problem I have just purchased a Canon 40D. When shooting in Manual mode with an external flash, (photogenic) my exposure always looks correct thru the lcd but it always flashes -2 no matter what setting I have the camera on. Color Saturation I just upgraded to the Digital Rebel XT, and I noticed that my images (i usually shoot at ISO 100 w/a polarizer) are a little bland in the color saturation department. I have the camera set to Adobe RGB and am using photoshop to process the images (I usually shoot the high-quality JPGs), but I'm frustrated that the only way to get the color to match what I'm truly seeing in front of me is to pump up the saturation levels in Photoshop. I'd like the camera to capture that in the f
