Having problems with your Canon Digital Cameras ?

I have a Canon 20D camera that I use with two lenses. The lens that I have most of my problems with is the 28-70 f2.8 red ring lens. When focusing It always seems to focus on what is behind the subject. No matter how much I concentrate on the focusing sensor to focus on the subject -AND it looks like it focuses on the subject-UNITL I load my photos and look at them in disgust that it focused behind it!! What is going on?? I use the same lens on my friend's cannon 5D and NEVER have this problem.

Answers :

This is quite a well known problem called 'back focusing' there is little that can really be done about it, except if the camera is under warrnty you can send it in and they will do some laser alignment that fixes the problem, it would be worth a call to canon and getting a price quote on a service. Also it seems to be worse with some particuar lenses,\015\012

I am shooting with a 10mm - 22mm lens - however that should not matter. Frequently my camera cannot find a focal point and therefore i cannot active the shutter release. I am forced to switch to either Manual focus or A (Automatic. I generally have the camera set to either AV or P for standard shooting. I have an EOS Reblel (6.4 pxls) that i've used with the same (10 -22) lens and i have never run into this focusing issue. Also, I am framing pretty standard subjects like doorways etc....N

When i go to shoot an action photo like something that is moving the camera always delays. i focus on the moving target but when the button is pressed the subject moves out of the view and then the shot is missed. my old olympus stylus from a few years ago used to take great moving shots. i could capture the kids doing just about anything like sports and stuff that you need to have the camera fire right away and not lose the moment because of the delay of the camera shutter. what kind of setting

I have a D90 and I just got, used, a 50 mm f/1.4 D lens. The lens motor sounds like it is working, but only moves the lens a small amount. Not enough to properly auto focus. It will manually focus, but the movement is not as free as another 50 mm lens I compared it to. Yes, I could bring it back, but if there is a simple fix, I'd like to do that.

I'm not getting crisp, in-focus photos from my EV500 (they appear somewhat fuzzy). In a studio environment with 5500K softbox lighting, using a tripod and AF on a portrait subject, with ISO 125 in Manual and Portrait exposure. I also shot the same subject with a Cannon G10 and same settings. My Cannon photos were tack sharp, but my Olympus photos were not. Also, the Cannon colors were more realistic than the Olympus. The colors on the Canon appeared as they should using the daylight (5500K

Fuji finepix s1500 - difficult to get it to focus at close macro. I found that I have to have the lens at its widest angle for the camera to focus on a close subject - like at 2 cm like the manual says. If I zoom up just a bit then the focus changes and my close subject is out. Is this the way it is supposed to operate?

Yes. You won't have the same macro focussing ability at all focal lengths. But usually the important thing is that it's not how close the camera can focus, but how large the image is, so you'll often find that a longer focal length (i.e. ... Digital Cameras

Zooming FE-280 camera - Worked great for about 2 weeks. While on vacation developed a problem - when you turn the camera on the lens goes in and out like it is trying to focus. Once it is through with the lens action when you try to set up for a picture (any mode) and focus on the subject the camera will not focus and then shuts down. Acts like the battery is dead but camera shows fully charged battery. Any ideas?

Back focus My D300 looked like it was focusing behind the subject. I set up 8 objects on the lawn, each one 3 feet behind the other. I mounted my camera on a tripod, selected a shallow depth of field, and shot each object. I found that at close range, my camera focused fine. The farther away the object, the more the camera focused behind the object. I returned the camera to Nikon for repair under warrantee. They made some adjustments. The focus has definitely improved, but I don't think it is qu

Hi i just bought a canon eos rebel from someone online and it has a 28-80 lens. I try to use it and i noticed the focus is very loose, is that normal? I dont know alot about cameras but i have used manual cameras before and i have never used one with such a loose focus. And also would i lose slight focus if its like that when i go and take a picture?

Your camera is primarily an autofocus model: manual focussing is very much a secondary feature and is always very free moving. If it were any other way then it would cause the AF motor to work much harder and dramatically shorten the battery life. ... Canon EOS Rebel 2000 with 28-80 lens 35mm Film Camera

When using my d80 (no matter what lens is on it) it just keeps trying to focus and will not take the picture. It was fine on Sun and then Tue wham!! I can not think of doing anything to it and no one has touched it. You can hear the motor as the lens is trying to focus. If I focus manual no problem except a lot of the photos may still be blurry (that could be me)

Poor focus I am using the Nikon d80 with a Sigma 24-70 mm lens. I am not satisfied with the crispness of the photos. I have tried shutter speeds of 1/500 and higher, using a tripod, and using shutter delay to get better clarity and sharp focus, but none has worked. The quality is not as good as my 2 meg Sony! Is this to be expected from the 10 meg cameras? thanks! [email protected]

Black photos When I turn on my camera (Nikon Coolpix S5, I believe), I can access old photos and see the symbols that are usually on the screen when it used to take photos. However, if I take a photo with it, it is just black. The camera flashes and acts like it has taken a photo. There is no lens cap, so that is not the problem. Is the camera simply broken?

Lens problems I recently purchased a Kodak Z7590. I have only used it a couple times. My daughter set it on the couch (still on). When I sat down beside of it the camera slid down behind the cushion. Hi.my daughter's Panasonic DMC-FZ7 has gone dark through the view-finder, and all the photos and videos that she tries to shoot are likewise totally black. While photographing yesterday, she paused to gently clean the lens. All photos since then have been black. Focusing Problems I just bought the Canon 20d. I shot a wedding with it two weeks ago, and really liked how it performed in low light.
