Canon rebel xsi trying to focus on subject and distort the background

Answers :

If you want the background to be blurred in a shot, you will need to move closer to the subject, recompose the image, and shoot. Since you're shooting digital, I strongly recommend a lot of practicing shooting at different distances and F-stops to determine what you're looking for.

I have a canon rebel xsi that is not taking pictures on auto focus. It will take pictures on manual focus, but they're blurry. I changed my lens to a bigger one to see if it was the lens or camera, and it's the camera. I had the same problem with the other lens. I've tried cleaning it & turning the lens focus ring but is still doing it. Anyone know how to fix this problem?

Canon rebel xsi, using 75-300 lens, taking photos of basketball game, pictures are blurry, especially the ones in "action" using the sports mode. also tried my 18-55 IS lens, same thing happening, using auto focus and stabilizer

That's a big lens and for sports photography you are going to need a lot of light to ensure you can use a fast shutter speed to capture the action. Sports mode may do too much for you and you might want to try switching to a more manual mode. Try s ... Canon EOS Rebel XSi Digital Camera

My Canon Rebel XS will not auto focus correctly. It sounds like it is trying to focus, but only flashes and will not focus or take the picture.

I have a Canon Rebel XSI. Lately, when I try to turn it on, nothing happens. I know there's a charged battery -- two, actually, because there's a battery grip. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. And sometimes the white balance button will flash repeatedly, even when the power is set to off. I've tried it without a lens. I've tried it without the grip. I've cleaned the gold contacts around the lenses and batteries. Any help would be appreciated.

My camera (a Canon PowerShot SX10IS, if it matters) has this tendency to move in and out of focus when I'm using the video recording feature. For example, I can start the video by filming a stationary object (let's say, a person speaking at a podium a meter or so away) and the video will be in focus. However, even though the person in the video isn't moving except for subtle hand gestures, the camera seems to start to try to focus on something else deeper in the background or closer in the foreg

Hi i just bought a canon eos rebel from someone online and it has a 28-80 lens. I try to use it and i noticed the focus is very loose, is that normal? I dont know alot about cameras but i have used manual cameras before and i have never used one with such a loose focus. And also would i lose slight focus if its like that when i go and take a picture?

Your camera is primarily an autofocus model: manual focussing is very much a secondary feature and is always very free moving. If it were any other way then it would cause the AF motor to work much harder and dramatically shorten the battery life. ... Canon EOS Rebel 2000 with 28-80 lens 35mm Film Camera

Hi there. I suddenly have a problem focusing my canon digital rebel xt. I have done nothing different to it, but cannot get it to focus AT ALL now. I am a professional photographer so tried other troubleshooting routes that I thought might cause focus problems (i.e. not enough light; played around with the shutter speed, f stops. etc.). I also took battery out, and put back. I took lens off and put back on. Any other ideas that you can suggest that would be causing this problem? Thank you for yo

I just purchased a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSI 450 D camera. The company I purchased it from is trying to talk me into a maintenance agreement. Among other things it includes a once per year free cleaning. They said Canon reccomends this to be done once per year. Do you have any insight on this?

If you drop your camera in the dirt a lot, I would send it in for the cleaning. It just takes one grain of sand, if left to bounce around long enough inside your camera, to enter the lens assembly and jam a gear in the lens gearbox forever. Most sa ... Canon Digital Cameras

Harsh shadows we are trying to take pictures for a friend's small wedding - at the rehearsal today we practiced picture taking with both a Canon Rebel XSI (using both the regular lense and adding a telephoto lense) and a Canon PowerShot S5-IS. The problem is that we are getting a lot of pictures that have a 'hard' shadow on the people in them. It doesn't appear to be a regular shadow because it doesn't 'land' on the different surfaces behind them, but is more like a shadow attached to them. Any

Shutter button on my digital rebel xt stopped working. I can press down far enough (halfway) to get it to focus but then it won't click all the way down and release. I recently purchased this Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS/1000 from Best Buy and happily used it for about 6 weeks, when suddenly the AF button won't work, and when I try to use manual (since I was very accomplished with 33 mm cameras at one time) I can barely get a decent focus -- it's an almost impossible task. What happened? This camera has not been dropped or misued in any way, and I fear there is no future in taking it back to Best Buy with their rigid return policy of 14 days and no longer. HEL
