Having problems with your Canon Digital Cameras ?

I bought a Canon 40D from Amazon--through Ace Digital Photo--in a kit with a 17-85mm lens, presumably new. I replaced it recently with the 50D. Now I learn that the camera, which was never outside my home and has about 100 activations was used--quite a lot of use and significant dust on the sensor. I was cheated, obviously. I can see the dust myself and a camera shop told me the camera was used extensively. Well, I am pretty disappointed. The purchase date was around 08/01/2008 and I still

Answers :

This is not a Canon web site. But I seriously doubt that Canon would send used cameras to its dealers -- where would they get them? More likely one of Ace's former customers returned the camera and Ace re-sold it as new. Your unfortunate situation is one of the best arguments for dealing with a local retailer where you can deal personally with a store manager in a situation like this. There are some very reputable online retailers, but watch out for the unscrupulous ones. If you check resellerratings.com for Ace Digital Photo at this link, you'll see they have a pretty good lifetime rating of 8.08 (out of 10), but their recent reviews are in the basement. Canon EOS Rebel XT with EFS 18-55mm lens. Trouble-free for two years. During a weekend of lots of use, suddenly the camera would not autofocus. Switching to manual focus, the camera worked. Then it started working okay in autofocus. Later that day quit altogether. (Would not release shutter even in manual mode.) Removed the lens and cleaned the contacts on both lens and camera, started working okay but only temporary. Went through several cycles of this over the weekend, so I'm not sure

No power The camera will not turn on. We have replaced the AA batteries, still no power. This is my son's camera and while out of town he used it quite a bit. He said the camera was warm while using the video option. He quit using it, but was unable to get it to turn on. Is there something else we can try?

Shutter Lag All, I have an Olympus 5050 Digital Camera that I have been using for a while now for home use and I am quite happy with the results. The only complaint I have is with the capture speed of the camera. The shutter lag seems to be about between 3-5 seconds which becomes quite obvious while taking pictures of moving objects (moving kids). I don't know if the issue is with the shutter speed of the camera or with the slower memory cards. I am using the SimpleTecg 256 MB Compact Flash card

Card speed won't interfere with shutter lag.\015\012\015\012The lag is much less (near non-existent) if you pre-focus. Or use manual focus with small enough aperture to get lots of depth of field. Make sure your kids are in the focus zone and just sn ... Olympus Camedia C-5050 Zoom Digital Camera

Dust Orbs I am having serious problems with "Dust Orbs" appearing in pictures. Mostly indoor pictures. These things are ruining my pictures. Are they caused by the Infrared Beam that the camera uses to focus? Or is something else wrong with my camera? Do ALL digital cameras have this problem with dust? Do DSLR have same problem? How come these dust orbs only appear with Digital Cameras, and not film? I need a digital camera that works indoors. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance....

Many digital cameras have this problem, though it has nothing to do with the camera being digital. It is small specks of dust in the air being illuminated. You will never see this problem without a flash.\015\012\015\012The reason you see it on digit ... Kodak EasyShare DX7440 Digital Camera

My friend gave me his used camera when his wife bought him with a new camera for Christmas. Although she bought it with his money, he still liked it. I didn't see it yet but he said it had a lot more pixles than the used Vivitar he gave me. OK, it's a hand me down camera. At least it's a good brand. Anyways, he gave me a slightly used Vivicam 3750 but with no box, instructions or disc. He did however manage to find the cord. Is there anyway to get you guy's to send the drivers or start up disc f

You shouldn't need to download any drivers. What kind of computer and operating system do you have? Once you've taken some photos just plug the camera via USB into your PC and it should launch the photo transfer application automatically. ... Vivitar ViviCam 3750 Digital Camera

Olympus FE-140 I keep having to install new batteries. The batteries die after a short usage time and I always shut my camera off when not in use. The batteries are not 'dead' because I test them but a lot of their juice is used up (about 1/2). Is this normal for this type of camera. They also die if the camera is not used for lets say a couple of weeks. Thanks!

My opinion, it is not because of your battery. But it is happen because of some of your camera component is damage. I think it is 'Power IC'. I've got this experienced through repairing my customer digital camera. The posible cause of this damage is ... Olympus FE-140 Digital Camera

Hi I have an Olympus 1050 SW which had been coping well with canyoning. ... until now. After the last canyon trip, the camera had severe condensation problems in the LCD screen and lens. I have dried the camera out with a hairdryer and used silica gel packets, which worked OK. But now when I point and shoot the camera it gives me streaks across the image. However, if I use the movie camera option, no streaks. I'm not quite sure what to do with the camera as it's past warranty and I'm reluctan

The fact that the streaks are present only when shooting stills confirm that the issue is not with the LCD display but with the imaging chip. The camera uses a different section of the imaging chip to record video with, so what's happened is that moi ... Digital Cameras

When turning on the camera, the card reader light flashes sometimes for a full minute before you can take a picture, I am using a Olympus xD 2GB memory card which works fine after the card reader light quits flashing. Is there some setting that I need to set to get the camera to quit reading the whole card every time I turn the camera on. I formatted the card on the camera.

We use our camera for passports, so having the pictures stay in the camera, then hook to camera up to the passport photo printer, is the easiest way to go. Recently, I ended up taking lots of pictures, so I moved the passport photos off of the card and onto the computer. When I was done, I put the passport photos back onto the card (after removing the new photos), but now the camera says there are no pictures, even though I can view them through the computer using the USB cable attatched to the

Battery drainage I have had my olympus sp-550 uz for approx 18 months, and was getting around 175 shots even when using zoom a lot. I am now getting only 20 - 30 shots using new batteries and also getting total drainage over night at times when my camera is turned off. I have been using the same make and type of batteries since I bought the camera.

20 to 30 shots on "fresh" batteries! Do you use the flash on all shots. That really drains them. I would try to set the camera to "factory default settings" in case you changed something that is causing a drain. I hope you just bought some bad batter ... Olympus SP-550 UZ Digital Camera

I just find it weird with the no lens problem. See after purchasing it and test was done the camera is quite okay. I've charge it for until its full and its ready for use for my trip. I'm pretty sure i did not dropped the camera and it was in my laptops case when i have the flight. then worst thing comes when i turned it on and at first the display is blurred again i turn if off and on, then the error lens came out. 4 days in the island i did not used this camera at all. by the time i went back

How do I clean specs of dust from an olympus OM10 camera? I have an OM10 that has not been used for many years. My kid is hoping to use it in a college class she has next semester but I noticed it has specs of dust/dirt when I look through the viewfinder. How do I clean this. The price to service this camera is about 150.00 and a couple of weeks. I am not sure the camera is worth it, so I am looking to see if their is a DIY solution. Thanks

Well, you're right, not worth 150. Unless you have the plug in manual speed adapter for that camera, it's not really suitable for classroom work. The good news is that the specks you see in the viewfinder will not appear on any pictures taken with ... Digital Cameras

I have a new Panasonic DMC-FZ38 digital camera and I seem to have a problem capturing video footage to a PC. I can record video on the camera and it plays back on the camera quite satisfactorily. When I try to zoom in on my camera (a Sanyo VPC-E1090), it says "Lens Error: 0x2119" It used to say something similar to this when I turned it on, but I turned it off and on many times until it corrected it. For background information, the camera is only a couple weeks old, and it has been mainly used at a camp and ranch where it is quite dusty. Thanks for the help.

I have a Canon IXUS 800, the shutter won't open properly, just opens about a millimetre. I don't want to break it as otherwise it is an excellent camera. I think it might have some dust in the shutter mechanism as we are using it to photograph an old farm we are renovating which is often a bit dusty even though we take care to put the camera into its cover after use. Hi, I got a new ProSpec 4gb flash card and used it last night in my canon 40d. I forgot to format before I initially used it. Shot lots of great images that I could see on the camera back, but now I am getting the messages - can not create a folder, tried to shoot another image and is says cf card is full, and now I can't review on camera, it says there are no images. Tried Digital Photo recovery software and got nothing. Anything at all I can do? I'm tempted to format now and then see if I can

I do not have a solution, but I do have same problem, or a variation of it: filled my ProSpec 2GB, removed it from my Canon G10 to insert a fresh card, then later reinserted the ProSpec to transfer photos to computer. Several tries, and no go. First ... Canon Digital Cameras
