Power Problem??? - Maybe Battery Related or On/Off Switch

\015 Hi,\015\012\015\012and Arrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!\015\012\015\012I am at a loss as to what to do?\015\012I've looked thru the posts and have not been able to find a problem similar to mine. \015\012\015\012I have a Canon\015\012Digital Rebel / EOS-300D... which - when you turn it on - sometimes\015\012works & sometimes does not. I KNOW it is not possessed by the Devil\015\012(even tho it feels like it might be)\015\012\015\012I thought initially that it was the battery, so bought another battery\015\012- charged it fully and inserted it into the Camera - alas, it made no\015\012difference.\015\012\015\012It is almost as if the camera does not recognise that there is a battery in it.\015\012I turn the ON switch to "on", and get nothing (even with a fully\015\012charged battery) - no red power up flashing light, no date/time display\015\012and LED display... Nuthin'?\015\012\015\012Then, I could try tuning it on and off 1, 2, 3, 15 times - sometimes it\015\012will actually work and turn 'on' correctly.... and sometimes not.I have also cleaned the terminals on both batteries & inside the Camera, to make sure it is not just a dust problem. SO the only other thing I can think of, is that it may be the On/Off switch its self?\015\012\015\012I would really appreciate any suggestions or help anyone can provide.\015\012\015\012With many many thanks!\015\012Polarities\015\012\015\012\015\012\015

We don't charge to estimate repairs. The general repair charge for that model is around $105 if no parts are needed.
Intermittent problems are often caused by the door switches - the battery door and card door both cause switches to activate. If it's been dropped on a corner, or the doors aren't closing completely, it'll not come on at all. Squeeze the area around those 2 doors to see if it comes on. If not, there's a loose connection inside that'll have to be opened up.

Camera jam Ricoh Caplio R5 - tried to switch it on to take a picture, and lens came out part way but the camera then switched off. Flat battery perhaps, so charged battery overnight and tried again with similar results. Lens still part way out, maybe some whirring noises, screen flashes but then camera switches off. Any ideas? Dead battery / broken charger? - or problem with camera? And how to check (I only have the one battery)

All the R series Ricohs have a pretty complicated lens system employing 2 swing-out lenses which can get stuck pretty easily, or worse, broken. If you are very good at taking things to bits you might have a go at fixing it (I've done several that wer ... Ricoh Caplio R5 Digital Camera

Power issues. Just recently I've encountered a problem with my camera. After plugging it into my computer (And not noticing the power surge notification on the desktop while doing so). It locked up and powered itself off. I tried turning it back on, and it turned on for a split second then shut off without retracting the lense. I switched batteries and it retracted the lense, but I tried powering it on and the lense only came halfway out and it powered off. I've tried 4 fresh sets of batteries a

Power problem I was charging camera using 4.5 DC volt socket on Camera, next I switch on camera so Lens head came out, accidentally power pin came off from camera and lens will not go back. Now nothing happening to camera when power cord connected or with battery, camera will not switch on at all including power lite does not come on with power cord connected. Look like it may have blown fuse in camera or something else serious. Any solution which I can try? I'm a very handy man with good too

No power I purchased a Canon 400D about a year ago and shortly afterwards the camera suddenly gave up on me. I took a couple of photos and then nothing. The battery was fully charged and the power light came on when the camera was switched on and remained on even when the camera was switched off. I was going to take the camera in to a service centre a few weeks later for repairs but when I switched the cameraon again, the problem seemed to have disappeared. Since then I have been taking photos w

When I push the power-on button the LCD display briefly flashes on with the "Pentax Optio" screen and then switches off. The lens is stuck half-way open, and the camera will not stay powered up. The battery is fully charged (as well as the backup battery) so that isn't the problem. Is there a "camera reset" procedure for this camera? Other ideas?

Battery problem This morning I turned on my brand new Nikon Coolpix 5400 and got nothing on the screen. pushed some buttons and still nothing. Went to turn it off and it won't. The lens stays extended and the power light is still on. I don't know if maybe the batteries are so low they can't do anything, but I was under the impression that the camera had an indicator for the batteries really needing to be recharged. The low battery light was on last night, but I haven't seen need to be recharged

Some of these cameras go from "low" to "no" very quickly. The electronics are more sensitive to available voltage than the mechanicals and it doesn't take full voltage to keep an led lit or to retract the lens. But the cpu shuts down. I would have ex ... Nikon Coolpix 5400 Digital Camera

My Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S600 stopped working. I press the power button and nothing happens. I tried changing batteries, but it shows no sign of life. It was left in the trunk of my car overnight, inside a luggage bag. The temperature was close to freezing, so maybe the cold weather had something to do with the problem. I left it in my closet for about a week, and when I tried to use it, the power would not turn on. Thanks for your time.
