Having problems with your Canon Digital Rebel / EOS-300D Digital Camera with EF-S 18-55mm Lens ?

Is there a chart that explains the range of a lens. I have a Canon EOS and want to buy a zoom lens to shoot birds, wildlife etc. I don't know how far80-200 MM shoots. I know it's sounds like a dumb ?'s - but I need to know. Thanks Nancy

Answers :

Hi, you can calculate optical zoom by lens specs
\012ex: 18-200mm lens is 3Xzoom -- you get 3 by finding out how many times the second number can be divided by the first so200mm /18mm=11X the object will be 11X larger than with the 18mm lens at 200mm setting so we do basic math and if object is 6 inches highat 18mm setting, it will look 11x 6= 66 inches high at 200mm setting.....hope that helps
Multiply the mm by 1.5 to get the actual range on a digital camera for any particular lens. Example...80-200 is actually 120-300mm. Then, to give you an idea of how that will look, every 50mm is like a 1x power on a pair of binoculars. Example...120=2.4 power, 300=6 power.

The battery is charged.. it doesnt even make a noise like its trying to focus. the wiewfinder bracket thingy lights up red but nothing after that. I have a vivitar telephoto lens for the camera, but not sure how to mount the lens. If I take the outer ring off, I dont know if the lens that came with the camera is suppose to also unscrew, or if there are other actions I need to take to use the new telephoto lens

None of these Canon Powershot cameras have a lens which will remove. The ring is only for a special kind of add on lens for either wide angle or telephoto, which will only fit this camera or possibly a few other models.Never try to ... Canon PowerShot A540 Digital Camera

My camera won't stay on. It turns on and lens goes out and adjusts and then retracts in and camera turns off. I am in the process of taking it apart to figure it out but unless it is a problem of the screws needing to be tightened I don't know what to do next. Can you help me or refer me. I bought this camera used and really like it and want to keep it if I can. I have had so much trouble keeping digital cameras working. Thanks

The problem you are facing is most likely to be lens related. Perhaps it is not able to extend fully and hence retracing and turning off. The cause may be a mechanical obstruction. However before we try anything else, remove the battery hold for 1 mi ... Pentax Optio E30 Digital Camera

Hi i just bought a canon eos rebel from someone online and it has a 28-80 lens. I try to use it and i noticed the focus is very loose, is that normal? I dont know alot about cameras but i have used manual cameras before and i have never used one with such a loose focus. And also would i lose slight focus if its like that when i go and take a picture?

Your camera is primarily an autofocus model: manual focussing is very much a secondary feature and is always very free moving. If it were any other way then it would cause the AF motor to work much harder and dramatically shorten the battery life. ... Canon EOS Rebel 2000 with 28-80 lens 35mm Film Camera
