When taking photos at night I sometimes get a red haze
\015 What causes a red haze(misty look) when taken photos at night?\015
It's probably because of the artificial light affecting the white balance, causing the images to appear too 'hot'. Ideally, you could post up some photos so we can see (along with the EXIF data).
If you shoot in RAW you can easily adjust when post processing.

The flash has been working fine until last night when I tried to take a picture and the flash was set to auto. When I press the button the little red light beside the flash sign lights up, but the camera does not take the photo. When I set it to flash mode, it still won't take a photo. When I turn off the flash, then it does. What could be the problem? Is it in the settings?

Red eyes appear in all my photos how do I eliminate that? Also if I am taking photos outdoors on a snowy day with not much sunlight how can I get good photos?
Red eye is cause by the internal flash being mounted to close to the lens center axes and is a common problem with most all cameras built this way. First of all, don't use the flash...it's only good for a short distance. Obviously, you need a fast shutter speed to stop the action. I own a D90 and of late have had problem getting the shutter to actually fire and take a photo at times. It will work sometimes and not at others. I have tried changing the memory card - putting it on manual etc but still won't work. The battery is fully charged. It occasionally comes up with an r05 and r21 code in the R lower box and a flashing F at the top R when this seems to happen. I haven't played with the settings all that much - just since this has begun happening. Can you make any sugge

Overexposed photos?? when i hit my shutter release button, sometimes the flash doesn't pop up and the view finder goes black. (it's like the camera is taking a picture but when I release my finger from the shutter release button it doesn't release) The only way to "get out of it" is to turn the camera off then back on. when i go to playback...it is a white picture. are my settings messed up and how do i avoid this in the future. Many picture moments are missed because of this!
The view finder "going black" on an SLR is caused by the mirror being up, which is also when the camera is actually taking the picture! The mirror sends the light from the lens to either the viewfinder or the sensor. When it's down, the light goes ... Nikon D80 Digital Camera with 18-135mm Lens
