Focusing issues with canon 40D when taking sports shots
\015 I recently upgraded from canon 20D to canon 40D digital camera. I take sports pictures using the canon 70-200 2.8 lens. Since beginning to shoot with the 40D, I have been getting out of focus shots most of the time. I have been shooting baseball at 7:30 p.m. when there is still f plenty of light. I am using AV mode with the aperture at 2.8 and the shutter speed 500 or higher, ISO 400 and moving up to 800 when needed. I am using AL Servo with multi-burst shots. In the past, I have gotten really good pictures most of the time and now with the 40D I am getting out of focus shots most of the time. Even if the picture is somewhat in focus it looks grainy. \015\012\015\012Any ideas?\015
I believe I have found my problem. I think my image stablizer on my lens is on the brink! I turn it off and got good pictures.

All of a sudden every picture I take with the 55-200 zoom lens is blurry and slightly out of focus. Pictures with the 18-55 lens are still sharp. I have been using that 55-200 lens for years for sports shots, and have never had any problem. I get the same blurriness shooting in both the auto sports setting and in shutter priority. It is a brand new issue. Could it be the AF servos starting to go in the lens, or am I doing something stupid?
Simplest answer is that you may have accidentally flipped the focus switch (A/M) on the lens to M. This turns off autofocus for that lens (which you might need to do if autofocus just can't resolve the image). Try turning it back to A.Ano ... Nikon D40x Digital Camera
I have a Canon zoom lens EF-5 18-55mm for my Canon EOS 450D. I am having trouble with my AF. If I set it on AF it will not focus automatically, but if I manually turn the lens for a close up it will then take the picture. Then and only then will the AF for long distance shot come into operation! After taking that shot it reverts back to not focussing. What can I do, if anything, to rectify this malfunction? Cheers Geraint Evans
Is this a problem with this lens only ? Try this lens on a friend's XSI/450D or try another lens on your camera body. Try all 3 AF modes. ... Canon EOS 450D Digital Camera
Focusing Problems I just bought the Canon 20d. I shot a wedding with it two weeks ago, and really liked how it performed in low light. However, I noticed a lot of my photos from the low lit reception came back out of focus. (The outdoor ceremony shots were fine). I noticed 3 issues with the images: 1-The main subject, which often was dead center and took up 1/2 to 2/3 of the frame, was often NOT in focus. Rather, the camera selected some point way off to one side or off in the distance som

My Canon 5D mkI turns on ok, will focus, displays top and back, but it will not take a shot. I have two batteries, both which I have charged to full and tried (display shows full charge). I have also tried two seperate CF cards. I have tried cleaning all contacts. Still it won't take a photo. The shutter will work when I use the "clean sensor" function though. Also, I have reset all settings on the camera. Anyone know why the camera isn't firing off a shot?

Won't focus I was out shooting some sports the other day and all of a sudden my camera (D70 with a 200mm lense) would not focus and started going a little crazy. however, it would still take a shot occasionally. when i tried to change the menu, the menu itself on the monitor was jumping around and wouldnt let me select anything. then suddenly it worked again. then again, just as suddenly, it stopped working. this has never happened before and I'm at a total loss other than to take it to a dealer
There are a number of flexible circuit connectors on the bottom two circuit boards of the D70. Possibly one or more have come loose. The flex connector for the rear LCD panel is also on 1st circuit board (memory compression PCB). You may have a pro ... Nikon D70s Digital Camera

Focus failure Hi. I hope you can help. I've a canon 40D and am using it remotely with the EOS utility v 2.3. I am only able to take an image when the live view mode is active. When inactive and I use either the shoot button or the timer, an error flashes up "focus failure". The camera focuses fine in live mode. Have dragged my way through the instruction manual and cannot find a troubleshooting section covering this problem. Hope you can help. Thanks Joe

I was at a basketball game last night and taking pictures with the d80 and the 55-200 lens. All of the pictures I took in auto focus were blurry. I changed it to the S mode with shutter speed at 4000 and those pictures came out completely dark with nothing in the picture. I changed the setting to the sports mode and the shutter speed is not fast enough because I have the same issue with blurring or out of focus.

I am using Canon 1000D dslr for more than 18months, it was working fine until last Sunday. I went outside and started taking few shots... it was not focusing properly (or should I say not at all!) and pictures are coming blurred. When I press the shutter button half, it should run the motor (in autofocus mode) and focus, but it is not doing anything (i.e. no red dots are coming)... what could be the problem? Thanks for any help.................
The autofocus motor could be be broken, or the lens may not be communicating correctly with the camera. One thing that can help if it's not communicating correctly is to clean the lens contacts. I dropped my camera and since then I can take photos, the camera focuses, my display is fine when viewing previously shot images and the normal display information but when the shutter is pressed all o see is black. I don't know if the images are being taken or if they aren't. I tried taking of the lense and pressing the shutter and a black box with a **** of light shows. With the lense on nothing but black shows. Is this issue with the lense or body? Any feedback is appreciated.

Recently, my Canon Powershot A95 has had an intermittent LCD display problem. While beginning to frame and focus a shot, the image streaks from edge to edge of the screen. If the shutter is snapped, that is the image recorded. The image looks like the subject is rapidly moving, or as though it is a time-lapse photo. Could this be a CCD (chip)issue?

Shutter button on my digital rebel xt stopped working. I can press down far enough (halfway) to get it to focus but then it won't click all the way down and release.
