Shooting in studio in Manual Mode, Auto Focus & Shutter issues

\015 Shooting in studio in Manual Mode, the auto focus lights inside the viewfinder seem to work, I hear the beep, but the shutter will not fire everytime...I have to repress it several times to get it to fire. It seems to happen more often when the camera is in the portrait mode (vertical position) and sometimes cutting camera on and off will restore function but not always. I have firmware update 1.1.1 which is the latest I believe. I am using a wireless remote mounted on the hotshoe to trip studio flash. I had this issue before and it cleared itself up for several months and now it is back worse than ever...Any thoughts...\015

My Nikon D40x won't auto-focus. When I press down the shutter button, it won't do anything at all. If I switch to manual and back to auto, it works for 2-3 shots, and stops working again. If change shooting modes from single to timer and back, it might work for a couple shots. I have not been able to find any other solutions. Any suggestions?

Hi, I've just recieved my nikon d90 back from a repair and service, and although everything appears to be working fine, whenever I want to change shooting modes,( auto, P, M, flash off etc), they only work once I have selected them, and then turned the camera off and back on. In other words I cannot be shooting in the Auto mode and then switch to "flash off auto"....all that happens is that the auto focus works but the shutter will not operate. If I switch the camera off and on however, I can t

I make photos of my oil paintings - placing the painting on the floor and shooting down. The "auto focus" will not focus on some paintings and the photos are blurry. I have tried all settings tn "Manual" mode plus using the other shooting mode. Some paintings just will not be in focus! Any help will be most gratefully appreciated. Ken B.

I don't know how close you need to be to the paintings, but if it's close enough to need the "macro"setting, then you need to activate it for close focussing. ... Fuji FinePix J10 Digital Camera

I was at a basketball game last night and taking pictures with the d80 and the 55-200 lens. All of the pictures I took in auto focus were blurry. I changed it to the S mode with shutter speed at 4000 and those pictures came out completely dark with nothing in the picture. I changed the setting to the sports mode and the shutter speed is not fast enough because I have the same issue with blurring or out of focus.

I am shooting with a 10mm - 22mm lens - however that should not matter. Frequently my camera cannot find a focal point and therefore i cannot active the shutter release. I am forced to switch to either Manual focus or A (Automatic. I generally have the camera set to either AV or P for standard shooting. I have an EOS Reblel (6.4 pxls) that i've used with the same (10 -22) lens and i have never run into this focusing issue. Also, I am framing pretty standard subjects like doorways etc....N

My d90 flashes an err sign somtimes when i shoot at manual mode.. but when i change my apperture and shutter speed setting, it will not appear anymore. Even at auto mode sometimes it flashes an err. Does the d90 flashes an error when you made wrong setting in your apperture and shutter speed?

On page 256 of the D-90 user manual it says that an ERR message indicates a camera malfunction and that the malfunction can be cleared by releasing the shutter. I found that the only way I could release the shutter is to turn the camera off and back ... Nikon D90 Digital Camera with 18-105mm lens

I can't seem to get my autofocus to work on my new Canon T1. The mode dial is switched to full auto, the fous mode switch is on AF, and the Image Stabilizer switch is in the "on" position. I've searched through the manual to see what I am doing wrong, but can find nothing. Any help you can offer would

Hope I can help with some input to your problem. Let me suggest please that you switch the "mode" dial to "P" for program, check your ISO (I personally shoot ISO 100) and set it for a speed ISO 400 or lower. Most DSLR's use contrast to focus so a mir ... Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTI Digital Camera

I have had an Pentax Optio S10 auto focus camera for about 3 years and it hasn't missed a beat. But now it will not take photos in flash mode. I have tried the usual settings as per the manual, and noticed a previous posting of the same issue. The response was to recharge the battery, which currently I am doing. The indicator on the camera's LCD however shows the battery to be almost fully charged though. Would this be the same issue? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Graham

On the Canon G3 I have issues with the main dial on the handgrip (used for aperture shutter speed and manual focus) while in Manual mode. it will change settings only some of the time! is this usually due to dust in the area and can it be cleaned or otherwise made operational?

Nikon D80 with a Sigma Lens (80 to 200 I think). In manual mode, often shutter won't release - this was a close up of a hummingbird with a fast shutter speed. Internal light meter showed underexposed, but the background was dark green. Initially, the shutter released, but later would not operate either with a remote, or by manually depressed the shutter release button. Switching back to auto, the camera seemed to work fine, but in this mode could not get the desired shutter speed. In full manual

I have a rebel xt 350D , using 75-300mm 5.6f lens to do some girls basketball photography inside a gym. Had camera set on: ISO 1600, M mode, 5.6f, 200 shutter speed (that seem to set automatically), used built in flash, Exposure level was in the middle of the chart, auto focus, al servo, continuous shooting, used awb. Got pretty good freeze action shots, with little or no blurring but the photos were dark. Some I could make lighter with photoshop but lost some detail and the contrast was too muc

I have a nikon d200. The last time I used it (only a few days ago) it was fine, everything normal. Then yesterday I pull out out of the case and everything seems to be going wrong. It is metering INSANELY low, like a shutter speed of 100 in full daylight produces a REALLY dark image. It won't auto focus at all, and i am unable to change the fstop in manual or aperture priority modes. I tried to restore it to factory settings and the lcd screen flashed to indicate it had been restored but no luck

All of a sudden every picture I take with the 55-200 zoom lens is blurry and slightly out of focus. Pictures with the 18-55 lens are still sharp. I have been using that 55-200 lens for years for sports shots, and have never had any problem. I get the same blurriness shooting in both the auto sports setting and in shutter priority. It is a brand new issue. Could it be the AF servos starting to go in the lens, or am I doing something stupid?

Simplest answer is that you may have accidentally flipped the focus switch (A/M) on the lens to M. This turns off autofocus for that lens (which you might need to do if autofocus just can't resolve the image). Try turning it back to A.Ano ... Nikon D40x Digital Camera

Shutter speed on the auto mode of my s1000 camera seems slow. how can it be increased in the auto mode? This is a Fuji camera and by the time I press the shutter button subjects have moved. I have set the camera back to the original factory settings and I can adjust the shutter speed in the manual position but in auto it seems really slow.

You need to press the shutter button half-way and allow the camera to lock in the focus before you press the rest of the way. This eliminates "shutter lag". ... Fuji FinePix S1000FD Digital Camera

Hi, I've a Sigma 28-105mm aspherical 3.5-5.6 lens. Auto focus does not engage. I can hear the motor trying, but the ring does not turn. When I switch to manual focus, I can turn the ring to focus manually, but I still hear the motor trying to use autofocus. Additionally, sometimes the shutter will not fire in manual focus while the motor is still searching. I've cleaned the contacts, but no joy. I suspect a faulty switch, but that doesn't completely explain the autofocus not engaging. I am
