Inconsistant exposure in Manual mode
\015 Exposure on my 40D is fine in any of the basic zone modes, but in manual mode, the light meter appears to be very inconsistant.\015\012Dave.\015
In manual mode the light meter result is the output of setting the apeture and shutter speed. It will constantly change as you change these and the ISO until you get the desired exposure. Is this what you mean by inconsistent? If it is giving verying results in the same conditions try it with ISO 100. That should fix it

I also set my SunPak flash to F4. My exposures seem pretty good. However when I review the various photo info's, the aperture reading is F5 or F4.8 not the F4 I set. Why is this? I was in Apperture priority at F8 to maximize the depth of field, exposure compensation -2/3EV, metered in the field, and tried to focus on the two guys sitting there in the midfield. My flash seems to be stuck in the "suppressed" mode. Also the Manual on page 64 refers to a "turn" of the "command dial" to the "flash mode setting". Since that item is not described anywhere else and the only turnable dial is the "mode" dial, I assume that it means to press the flash mode arrow. When I do that nothing happens.
