The autofocus don't work anymore with 18-55 IS lens and EOS 450 D. The focus rings do not move at all when I half press the shot button. Manual focus works fine. The camera has about 8000 shots.

My Nikon D40x won't auto-focus. When I press down the shutter button, it won't do anything at all. If I switch to manual and back to auto, it works for 2-3 shots, and stops working again. If change shooting modes from single to timer and back, it might work for a couple shots. I have not been able to find any other solutions. Any suggestions?

To adjust the focus on the camera you are suppose to press the shutter button halfway down and it will lock your focus in and then press the shutter button again and take the picture. It was working fine and the next time I turned my camera on this option would not work. I try the press the shutter button down halfway the it does nothing. All I can do now it press it all the way to take the picture. I have an Olympus E-420 digital SLR camera.

I am using Canon 1000D dslr for more than 18months, it was working fine until last Sunday. I went outside and started taking few shots... it was not focusing properly (or should I say not at all!) and pictures are coming blurred. When I press the shutter button half, it should run the motor (in autofocus mode) and focus, but it is not doing anything (i.e. no red dots are coming)... what could be the problem? Thanks for any help.................

The autofocus motor could be be broken, or the lens may not be communicating correctly with the camera. One thing that can help if it's not communicating correctly is to clean the lens contacts. Using my Canon XSi/450D, I'm interested in doing High Dynamic Range photography. But I can't discover how to make the automated shutter-speed range multi-shot (3 for the 450D) AEB work. I've gone into the menu and select and change the AEB range ( -2V) and pressed "set." Working from the "AV" in creative mode, I then set up my first shot with focus and ISO, and shoot. Now what? When I press the shoot button, an ordinary photo is captured, and if I continue to press the button additional cap

Camera shuts down after shutter button is pressed. It shuts down halfway through the shutter operation. Everything else works fine-reviewing pictures, settings in menu, focusing, exposure settings etc. The camera focuses ok when the shutter button is half pressed then when you press the shutter button fully, the mirror goes up, shutter appears to open then the camera shuts down with no power. Only way to get mirror etc back to normal is to remove the battery and refit. When camera is turned b

I bought a second hand d70s. it seems to have a problem. the shutter release button does not seem to do anything when pressed half way (like auto focus). I can only get autofocus to work if i program AE-L/AF-L button to AF-ON. I press the AE-L/AF-L button on the back, then press the shutter to take the shot. And if i set the AE Lock On, pressing the shutter button half way does not lock the exposure setting. so there seems to be an issue with the shutter button itself...is there an easy fi

Hi. I am on vacation in the Indian Ocean islands at this moment with a brand new Nikon D90 + 18-105 lens. Was taking photos this morning. From one shot to another, the camera suddenly stopped working. When I press the shutter button, it still focuses and when I click through, I can hear the shutter clicking (tried this with different shutter speeds). However, no photo is captured/stored. Also, the Lv button no longer works. When I press it, the camera is unable to switch from viewfinder to LCD l

Shutter button does not work on SP-500UZ. Zoom in/out works sporadically (sometimes it jitters a little when zooming). It was working fine until last weekend, when it just stopped working. Shutter button on my digital rebel xt stopped working. I can press down far enough (halfway) to get it to focus but then it won't click all the way down and release. For several months before this final calamity, it would frequently happen that when I went to take a photo the button wouldn't engage at all and I'd have to try several times and miss the shot I wanted before I could get the shutter button to engage. Now that it's not working at all, I sent it to Canon for repair and have just rec

My d200 is picky about when auto focus works. It won't work for the shot I want, but if I turn the camera 8 degrees and try at that angle, it works fine. Sometimes turning the camera to manual, then off, then on, then back to auto focus does the trick, but not always. What is going on?

The focus ring inside the camera is a free-spinning lens that is controlled by electromagnets, with feedback from the microprocessor and sensor. When some dust, lint, sand, or dirt works it's way into the lens assembly, the ring can hang up, which ... Nikon D200 Body Only Digital Camera

Trouble focusing I am using my D60 with a 18-55mm lens, i have it set on auto its been working fine until recently when it is unable able to focus when i press on the release button. All that seems to happen is the lens keep going in and out where it is trying to focus. I have removed the lens and checked the contact but its still not working help!!!

Not too many things that can do this are simple, but here are a few you can check. First, make sure you aren't too close for the lens to focus. For the 18-55, that's only about 5" from the front of the lens, so I doubt this is the problem. \ ... Nikon D60 Digital Camera

I have a Nikon D70 camera. I'm using a Lexar 2GB card inside. Problem focuses on the card. Previous to this moment, card has worked fine. Today, shot photos and when I hooked up the camera to download the pics, got an error in the viewfinder (CHR). Looked at the manual, and it said problem was with the card. I removed the card, and placed it in a card reader. It worked fine and I was able to transfer the photos. Replaced the card, and still get the same error. I've already re-formatted the card,

First, memory cards don't last forever, so it may be time for a new card. Make sure you check the pins in your camera and the contacts in your card for dust/dirt. I'd guess you already looked at this, though. \015\012\015\012I've had s ... Nikon D70 Body Only Digital Camera

I'm having trouble getting the self timer to work to self portraits. I'm following the manual instructions by pressing the shutter-release button partway to focus then pressing the button all the way down to start the count down. Left hand buttons don't work. They act like a half-pressed shutter button. IE: they focus and usually pop the flash. The camera takes pics fine, the two button reset and the tiny pinhole reset on the side don't see to fix anything.

Nikon D80. It worked fine until recently (maybe after I took pictures during whale-watching in a heavy rain and camera got wet). Now the view in the viewfinder is kind of greyish and blurry. Focus area brackets in the viewfinder are now always visible and white. And when I half-press the shutter button the whole viewfinder flashes in red color. Basically, the camera still works and takes pictures, but it is hard to see through the viewfinder and it behaves very strangely.

Seems like your problem on greyish/blurry viewfinder is caused by the camera getting water logged. Get your cam cleaned by Nikon.\015\012\015\012The flashing red light usually happens if you have this indicator set in the camera. This m ... Nikon D40x Digital Camera

My auto focus won't work... and the only advice the manual gives me is to switch the switch in the front of the camera from MF to AF. and I have dont that already and still nothing. would there be some other button that has been pressed that I would have to press again?
