Under exposed pictures when using studio lighting with 5D

\015 I'm new at this but my problem is when taking pictures in a studio setting. It seems to me that my pics are under exposed. A shadow shows up on the bottom of the picture. Regardless of how I set up the camera. Is it me and my settings or is something going on with my camera. I use two pocket wizards. I use a 5D and a 20D\015

Answers :

A black shadow at the bottom of the image is usually the result of using a shutter speed that is beyond the max flash sync speed of your camera. The max sync speed of the 5D and 20D is 1/200th. In a studio setting with wireless triggers there can be additional latency. Try using a shutter speed of 1/125th and see if that clears it up. You may be able to push it a little higher as pocket wizards are very good wireless triggers but don't use a shutter speed above 1/200th.

Christmas lights I want to take a picture of the Christmas lights on our house at night. How should I set my camera to get the best picture of this? Can I get a good picture without using the flash? I'd rather not use it since it will diminish the effect of the lights at night.

Close-up picture Hi! I purchased my camera to take up close-up pictures of handmade greeting cards. The cards are 4" x 5 1/2" with lots of little details. I'd like to show as much detail as possble. I'm not sure what the best setting are? I've tried using the flash, but the whole picture just glares out, the light bounces off of the card and makes a big glare in the center. Without the flash, the picture is too dark. Can you help me figure out the best setting to use? Or, what kind of lighting

White Balance images are redish. I'm using studio strobs. One 32inch soft box and one 4 inch umbrella. Modle light only in soft box. ISO100 Shutter 125 f:8 exposure determine with light meter. The room is also lit with tunsent light 10 feet high. Thanks. Lee

With your D200, you can use the kelvin temperature mode instead the other. As I work in TV where we do the white balance very often, I can guess what's the Kelvin temperature when I shoot. I only use Kelvin now on the D200 and it's more reliable! ... Nikon D200 Digital Camera with 18-200mm Lens

Canon SD600 I used my camera to take pictures of fireworks and I noticed that afterwards, all the photos I was taking outside in daylight were turning white. If I take pictures in the dark, they turn out perfect, and low light pictures are fairly normal except anywhere where there is a light source (lamp, window, etc) the color is streaky and orange. This particular camera has no way to adjust the aperture settings and I am considering taking it to a shop to have it looked at. Is there anything

It sounds like you may be in a low light mode. Put the camera in record mode, and then press the set button (in the middle of the up down left right keys). You probably want the camera to be in automatic mode (or A). If this doesn't solve the prob ... Canon PowerShot SD600 Digital Camera

I first experienced a problem with my Canon S2Is camera when it was only taking pictures of blank images. I found a "fix" recommendation which seems to have gotten rid of the black image problem. However, now when I take pictures the images seem to have horizonal lines through them if I don't use the flash. Also, if I am taking a picture outside or in a lot of light, the image ends up being extremely light. Have any suggestions?

Think you need to do the fix more. Believe your shutter was previously stuck in the closed position. Now it sounds like it is stuck in the open position. Again keep trying the fix to loosen it up. Just to confirm, the "fix" you're talking about i ... Canon PowerShot S2 IS Digital Camera

Hi. I have had a Samsung S1050 camera for just under 3 years, and have had satisfaction in using the camera and with the picture quality for most of that time, however just within the last few weeks, the quality of photographs taken has gone rapidly downhill, with white-out when using the flash and poor light levels, and when zooming in on any picture that has recently been taken, there are noticeable horizontal lines across it through the entire photo, much like an old 70's tv. Battery life When I first had this camera, about 3 years ago, the rechargeable batteries I bought seemed to last for ages. But more recently the "low battery warning" has been coming on very shortly after inserting freshly charged batteries. Once the light is on, the camera goes dead after a few more pictures so it's not giving me a false "low battery" warnin

Light Meter When I am in manual mode, my light meter seems to be off, especially when I am in the sun. When I adjust the settings to even out the meter, my pictures always come out over exposed. I have to compensate by making them "under exposed" so that they come out normal. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Camera flash i generally use my camera on auto mode so i don't have to play around with buttons! however after loaning my camera to my sister for a week my flash is no longer as great as it was!! I used to take pics and the flash would light 2-3 times giving a great, bright picture. It now flashes once before the pic is snapped giving a dark picture. Hello, I have the s7000. My batteries seem to be fine. It does not save the pictures quickly like it used to. The green light at the back stays orange for a while, then flickers orange/gree, then it has saved the photo and i can shhot again. Also when i turn it off, if the light is orange it will not close or retract the lens. Only after a few seconds, quite a few will it close. I also notice the pictures are not as sharp as before. Also, a few times the lens has not come out when turned on,

The saving issue may well be helped by unloading the photos from the memory and memory card and then reformatting it. It is recommended that the memory be reformatted after every download of photos rather than just extracting them and using the ... Fuji FinePix S7000 Digital Camera

I just purchased a Power Shot sx200is. I will be taking pictures this evening where most of the subjects are African American.
