Having problems with your Canon EOS-5D Digital Camera ?

Camera focuses etc but CF card not registering & no menu availabl

\015 Message came up that CF card not formatted (worked fine in same camera yesterday), camera seemed unable to format card and now refuses to go into the menu. I've taken out the battery & replaced , and same with the CF card but to no avail.Camera got cold yesterday morning and was playing up, though I thought the probs might be due to a cold battery, but was warmed up gradually worked fine during the day and is now room temperature.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Cheers\015

Answers :

Have you tried a different CF card? Do that so you can isolate whether the problem is the card or the camera. If the problem is the card just replace it. If the problem is the camera. Then depending on how long you have owned the camera you will need to have the unit serviced. If its under warranty then this would be covered. If it's out of warranty then you will be responsible for parts and labor. If you still need further assistance let me know.
Thank you,

Have a Sony Alpha DSLR-A300K. Let a friend borrow it and she used USB to download the photos to her computer. Ever since she did that, the camera does not work: specifically, all the buttons don't do anything (shutter button, menu button, playback button, etc). Any ideas out there to try and and get this camera to act like its old self? Thanks! p.s. when I get my pictures off the camera, I just remove the card and insert it into my computer; I don't do the USB method she used.

Sounds like when she disconnected the USB cord, she didn't use the "safely remove hardware" function on her computer. You could try a reset from the menu if you could get into it. If I turn on in a picture taking mode it starts to focus and then the message appears, when I turn it off the lens does not close. If I turn on in playback mode, it works fine, if I turn it off from playback mode, then the lens closes. Basically, any picture taking mode triggers the error message. Solution?
