Having problems with your Canon EOS 60D Digital Camera ?

My wife has a Canon 60D DSLR camera. When she looks through the view finder, it looks like the lens has a speck of dust on it as she can see it in the viewfinder. She has swapped lenses and the spec is still there. She used the auto clean function for the sensor, but the spec hasn't moved, This is almost a brand new camera. Should we clean the sensor by hand? If so, how do you do it?

Answers :

Take a couple of pictures, over a dark background, if you can see the spec of dust on them, the problem might be in the mirror. Now, if the dust does not appear on the pictures, it's either on the viewfinder, or somewhere else out of the way of the sensor.\012
\012You should never try to clean the sensor by hand, always ask a profesional to do that for you.

Reset option and clean sensor option are not visible in set up menu. Canon D20 I had a two spots that kept appearing in the same area of the photo so I looked at the manual and did the clean sensor function a couple of times and the spots remain. I had also done a reset all functions since my stepson gave me the camera and I wanted to restore it to its original settings. Now I don't see either the clean sensor option or the reset in the set up menu. Help!

How do I clean specs of dust from an olympus OM10 camera? I have an OM10 that has not been used for many years. My kid is hoping to use it in a college class she has next semester but I noticed it has specs of dust/dirt when I look through the viewfinder. How do I clean this. The price to service this camera is about 150.00 and a couple of weeks. I am not sure the camera is worth it, so I am looking to see if their is a DIY solution. Thanks

Well, you're right, not worth 150. Unless you have the plug in manual speed adapter for that camera, it's not really suitable for classroom work. The good news is that the specks you see in the viewfinder will not appear on any pictures taken with ... Digital Cameras

My Canon 5D mkI turns on ok, will focus, displays top and back, but it will not take a shot. I have two batteries, both which I have charged to full and tried (display shows full charge). I have also tried two seperate CF cards. I have tried cleaning all contacts. Still it won't take a photo. The shutter will work when I use the "clean sensor" function though. Also, I have reset all settings on the camera. Anyone know why the camera isn't firing off a shot?

I bought a used canon xs from craigslist. I think a hard lesson learned already. Anyway the camera appears to be in great condition. The problem is whenever I take a picture it does not come out right. The colors are way off. Some colors look fine, blue will come out beige, gray or green. This is with the flash indoors or outdoors with just normal light and the camera on full auto. I called canon and they said it sounds like the sensor is going bad. Just wondering if anyone has any advic

I am wary about cleaning inside the camera and especially the sensor but feel I have to because that appears to be where the mark originates. any advice please

We have a Fuji S5000 digital camera we really like. However, lately it takes shots that are more like artwork with colors running down the page. I looked it up and it appears to be the image sensor. Where can I get a replacement sensor or the camera fixed What should I expect it to cost as we are debating whether to find a used one or just buy a new camera.

My EOS 400D flash sometimes pops up in bright daylight in full auto mode. I sent it back to Cannon who returned it saying no fault found. I then began to think that the problem was the way I held the camera and that I may be obscuring the (light?) sensor near the grip with my hand. After not using the camera for a while I am now taking shots again and the flash pop up problem has re-appeared. I am now sure I am not blocking the sensor. Any ideas?

In full auto mode, the camera tries to use fill flash, when it detects a backlit scene (e.g. a person in front of a window). So this is not a bug, it's a feature! If you don't want the flash to fire, you can push it down and still take the shot. ... Canon EOS 400D / Rebel XTi Digital Camera with 18-55mm Lens
