I have a canon rebel xti with an 18 to 55 lens .. I recently bought an external flash to sit in the hot shoe .. now when I removed the flash from the hot shoe .. the cameras own flash will not pop up and work... I can manually pop the flash but it still will not work..  I thought that when I bought the flash at the camera store the sales person turned off something on the camera for the new flash to work.. is there something I need to change in the menus to get the cameras own flash to work.....

I had the same problem. \015\012Look closely at the hotshoe. Inside it, way over to the side, under one of the tabs on the side, is a tiny metal strip. When you attach an external flash, the strip is pushed down and holds down a tiny button ... Canon EOS 400D / Rebel XTi Digital Camera with 18-55mm Lens

Canon Powershot A610 digital camera--LCD screen shows icons, but otherwise is blank--there is no visible movement in the lens when I take a picture without flash--have tried setting it on TV setting and taking a picture, then opening the battery cover for a few seconds after waiting 7 seconds or so, but no images on the LCD except the camera's icons--ideas? probably a stuck shutter, or is it still possibly the CCD sensor even though there's no visible movement in the lens? Ideas? Thanks!

Much more likely that it's a stuck shutter, especially for your model camera. How many tries did you give the fix? Some people stated that it took at least 15 repeated tries before the shutter opened:\015\012\015\012\015\012 ... Canon PowerShot A610 Digital Camera

Flashless photograghy I bought a this camera about a month ago. I would like to know what settings I need to put it on so I can take good pictures of a stage performence without having to use my flash. These are the accessories that I have: Canon - EOS 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera - Black EOS 40D Canon - 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens 0345B002

Use the highest ISO setting and the largest aperature (low number) possible. A tripod would help as the camera is going to take a slow shot if it has a slow lens (telephoto lens' are slow--high f-stop value) You want to use the kit lens on the camera ... Canon EOS 40D Digital Camera

After I have detached my external flash (Nissin Digital Speedlite Di622), my Canon EOS 60D does not recognize the fact that the external flash is already detached. Thus, this does not allow the built-in flash to pop out when needed. I have tried turning the power off and on again. The problem persists.
