Having problems with your Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS / 1000D IS Digital Camera ?

I recently attended a wedding and brought my camera for photos. When i went to remove the 18-55mm Lens it was stuck and I cannot remove it. I do not want to force it off for fear of damaging the LENS or the camera body. Is there anything that I can do to safely remove this lens?

Answers :

DO NOT FORCE IT !! Wiggle the lens while gripping it at the base and pressing the lens release as far in as possible. The release pin is stuck.

Lens Jam My G6 turned on accidentally in its case and the lens tried to extend but was forced to stop. Now, when I turn the camera on, the lens makes a ratcheting sound and gets halfway before stopping. It beeps and says "LENS" on the top LCD screen, before powering off. I've been quoted £160 just to have it looked at which is half the value of the camera! Does any one know how to open one of these up (safely) and what to do when you get inside to fix the problem?! Many thanks

On/Off Switch Hi My problem with the 5050Z is as follows; When I switch the camera on the lens extends and then retracts but not always. This can carry on until I turn it off. On the odd occasion that this does not happen, should I lightly touch the on/off switch (but not move it) the lens begins to retract and extend again until I turn it off. Has anyone experienced this problem, if so, is there a solution? I've tried removing the batteries for 24 hours to force the camera to fully res

I have a Minolta f300 camera whith an internal battery that needs to be replaced. Sending it to Minolta (Sony now) would require a flat fee of $181 which is of course morethan the value of he camera. I can remove the back case but the front case, which covers the internal battery, seems to be attached to the telephoto lens and does not seperate easily from the camer's internals. I don't want to force it and break something. What is the procedure for removing the front case? Thanks

I've had my camera for about 3 years now and have never had any problems until a couple of weeks ago. When I turned the camera on, it forced me to reset date/time and would occasionally show aperture 00 and not take a picture. Turning the camera off and then on again, or removing and replacing the battery temporarily took care of the problem. Now I am getting the ERR 01 and can not take pics at all, regardless of which lens I use or whether I am using the IS option. I've tried cleaning the c

My camera doesn't turn on at all. I took it out of its cover today and I first thought it was a battery problem so I recharge my battery but it still doesn't turn on at all. I tried to connect it to my computer, hoping that it will do something but still nothing. Strangely enough, the lens is on and I don't want to use force to put it back inside, afraid that it might damage the camera even more.Should I send it for repair? and if yes, where is the best place to do it? thanks in advance

My D5000 was dropped onto a stone floor from 4 feet height. It is operating without any obvious malfunction. The 18 - 55 mm lens gets stuck at 45 mm but can be forced to 55 mm without much effort. Camera lens movement mechanism seems to be damaged, as when switched on, the camera lens does not extend out completely and the object appears blurred on the screen. Similarly when switched off, the lens does not retract back completely and it needs a manual push to put it in a little more. But even then it does not go in fully. Rest of the functions are working well. The damage is the result of an accidental body weight going on the camera, when it was in on condition.

I'm a new user of the D90 (and digital in general), and on my first major trip with it I had problem with the shutter not working. I would take some images, put the camera down without turning it off and move on to the next spot. At the second stop the camera would not work. I'd turn it off, remove the battery, run the lens in and out and eventually it would work again. The message I got was F--, which said that the lens was not installed properly. However the lens was never removed. What's

It shows a lens error when turned on; asks to 'remove the lens cap' even if it is already removed. The lens starts to zoom out & in for a couple of times; then this error message comes up and just hangs. Tried removing the card, battery and even tried re-charging the cell. Lens error When I first power on my camera, it tells me to retry power on. When I do, it says lens error and shuts down. I have tried removing the battery and letting the camera sit for awhile hoping that the camera will reset, however this has been of no help.
