I was using my Nikon D40 at son's baseball game with the 55-200 mm lens & was too close to the fence when zooming since it tapped the fence. Now it makes a squeaky noise when trying to auto focus. It will not take a pic on auto focus but will focus and if I flip the A / M switch on the lens itself over to M it will take a pic.It will take pics fine with the 18 - 55 mm lens. It's nota problem with the Zoom, but with the autofocus. When it attempts to autofocus, it goes thru the extremes of the le

My D80 was purchased in April 2008 along with the Nikkor 18-200mm VR zoom lens. The camera and lens worked flawlesly until this past week end. The cameral stopped focusing in auto mode with no warning. I did hear a whining noise when I tried a Tamron 11-18mm wide angle lens. The auto focus did not work with that lens either.

Focus Problem I recently took the camera apart to fix the zoom. lens would not come out. Fixed it all good now goes in and out smothly. Now the pics are fuzzy out of focus. has auto focus 2' too infinity. Wiped the lenses off while i was in there with a lens cloth from binoculars. Maybe not well enough and it might have a film on it. Would that make the pics fuzzy or out of focus? Or is there something else?

A small amount of dirt on the lens would just produce some flare and redule overall contrast slightly. It wouldn't produce a grossly out of focus image. Either you misaligned something or you messed up the autofocus system somehow.\015\012\015\012Can ... Fuji FinePix 2650 Digital Camera

All of a sudden every picture I take with the 55-200 zoom lens is blurry and slightly out of focus. Pictures with the 18-55 lens are still sharp. I have been using that 55-200 lens for years for sports shots, and have never had any problem. I get the same blurriness shooting in both the auto sports setting and in shutter priority. It is a brand new issue. Could it be the AF servos starting to go in the lens, or am I doing something stupid?

Simplest answer is that you may have accidentally flipped the focus switch (A/M) on the lens to M. This turns off autofocus for that lens (which you might need to do if autofocus just can't resolve the image). Try turning it back to A.Ano ... Nikon D40x Digital Camera

Canon 30D out of focus on EF 28-80 mm zoom 3.5-5.6 This is a cheap lens but even at f16 on 28 mm it is not very sharp. My 10-22 mm 3.5-4.5 not much better and 90-300mm 4.5-5.6 the same. All my settings seem ok and auto focus looks not to bad by eye but when I look at the back of camera and blow up it is out of focus even at high shutter and f16

I have a Nikon D40 which is coming upto being two years old. Recently I have noticed that the auto-focus will not work. If I manually focus I can still take photos but when auto is engaged it will not even try to focus and therefore will not allow me to take a photo. Zoom lens mis-focusing. The lens "wizzes" in and out trying to focus. The lens will eventually "settle-into" focus; but sometimes this takes a number of seconds to accomplish. Also, the lens tends to "slip-out" of focus just as the button is depressed to take the photograph. Only problem seems to be with the lens focusing.

Similar to another post, I dropped my Canon Rebel XS (strap caught a chair) and it landed on my tile floor. Everything seems to work fine except the auto focus. Because I thought it landed lens first I bought another 18-55mm lens. However when I put the new lens on the auto focus on does not work on this one either. Any ideas whats on what is going on?

I have a Canon Digital Rebel XT camera using a 75-300mm telephoto lens. My problem with the lens is that at times it is hard to adjust the focus either manually or automatically with the camera.
