Having problems with your Canon PowerShot A470 Digital Camera ?

Canon Powershot A470 - asks to 'change battery' every time it is turned on, then turns off immediately. This is so even when new, fully charged batteries (different brands, rechargeable, non-rechargeable) are inserted. Any ideas on how to remedy this?

At maximum, NimH rechargeable batteries reach 1.2volts, instead of the full 1.5-1.6volts of a standard battery. I recommend using Lithium batteries, vs. std or Alkaline batteries, as the Li batteries seem to hold a charge longer.

\015\012In short, I have the best NimH batteries available and my A470 doesn't seem to like them. P.s., I will try them again, just to make sure.
This happened with my Canon Powershot A470. I sent it back to he manufacturer and they said I was using the wrong batteries. Even though the camera is supplied with two alkaline batteries, they recommend using AA NimH rechargable batteries.

After leaving my Sony DSC-T2 camera unused for only a couple of days the battery was flat. I recharged it fully but again it only lasted a day or two. I assumed the battery was dead and I purchased a new Sony NP-BD1 battery and charged it correctly. This new battery is behaving exactly the same as the old one, only holding a charge for a day or two at most. It seems the camera is draining the battery when it is switched off, or maybe the charger is faulty ??? Any ideas?? many thanks - Geoff

Battery Problems The Canon PowerShot A480 is sucking the life out of the batteries! I get about half a dozen shots and it says I need new batteries - I change to fully-charged ones and as soon as I put them in they are almost gone (that icon is flashing at me). I have used new rechargeble and old ones ... I've used two different rechargers ... Battery Problem My 18-month-old Canon A70 is giving "change the battery pack" message and turning off constantly, even though I have fully charged three different sets of new rechargeable batteries and rotate them as soon as the message comes on. Sometimes with this message I pull out one charged set and put the same back in, and it works fine for quite awhile, then repeats later. I imagine this is a problem in the camera battery power circuit or something. Never happens when plugged into the co

Sony DSC H5 runs down batteries very rapidly. Much faster than when the camera was originally purchased. A pair of new AA batteries only lasts for 12 - 24 photos. Brand new rechargeables fully charged are totally drained after sitting in the camera for a few weeks with no use. The camera is definitely OFF. This did not happen three years ago when I bought the camera, it started in the last 6 months. I can't go on like this!

Battery issue Hi, I've owned this camera for about 1 year. In the last couple of months the red battery icon will flash and the camera will shut down thinking it has dead batteries. The problem is, we may put in brand new batteries or fully charged re-chargable batteries and the icon is there right away. Does the mini battery inside need to replaced? If that isn't the problem then I have no idea what is wrong with thing......my last camera did the same thing (Fugi)

Battery Problem When fully charged the camera will work for a few hours. It can be switched off annd back on again and will run with no little loss of charge after 8 hours or so. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H2 turns on sporadically. Once on it works fine. Shut it off and try to turn back on and it doesn't. Repeated pushing of the power button maybe 30-40 times and it turns back on again. Once you get it on it Works fine. Turn off and when you want to turn it on again must push power button over and over to get it on again. This happens with brand new batteries and with rechargeable batteries that have been fully charged. Any assistance would be appreciated. Doug Clark
