Having problems with your Canon PowerShot A540 Digital Camera ?

Lens error Hello. I've had my camera since October now, and of course it's fallen a couple times or been bumped into things, but it's always worked fine afterwards. But tonight, I had it on my tripod, which apparently isn't as sturdy as I thought it was, because it fell straight forward. My lens fell right on the concrete. It is like, visibly crooked now, not much but you can tell, and every time I try to turn it on the lens tries to extend but then it just stops, the screen goes black for a sec

Answers :

You will most likely need to send the camera in for service. There really is no way to repair this problem on your own.
Since you are not out of your 1 year manufacturer's warranty, you will not yet qualify for the upgrade program, however Canon does offer deep discounts in the Canon Loyalty program for situations like yours once you are beyond the one year manufacturer's warranty.
It may be true that it would cost more to repair than to replace, and that's why the Loyalty program is great because you will at least save a bundle on getting another camera.

Hope this helps.

My sister recently gave me her old Kodak easyshare m1033 camera, which is nice because i have a lot of use for it. At a recent concert of a friend of mine's, I was taking pictures and the camera died with the lens stuck in the out-position. I didn't think much of it and decided I'd bring it home and charge it and then retract the lens. However, when I tried to charge it (I charged it for 12 hours straight, multiple times), it turns on for 1-2 seconds displaying that the date and time have been r

Nikon d3000 I made the mistake of recently dropping my new D3000 (Was in a padded case, and only fell a small distance) but since the fall my pictures are not at all in focus and are very foggy. Everything else seems fine except for the fact that a small black piece of plastic fell out, though I am not sure if it fell out of the lens or the camera body. My big question - do you think there is a problem with the camera body - or is it the lens? http://www.tiikoni.com/tis/view/?id=aaa702a (Pictu

Lens Error I fell while holding my camera. The lens was open at the time and when I got up I turned the camera off. I then turned it back on to check it and the lens opened and immediately closed with the "lens error" on the screen. I can turn it off and on and the lens will always open but closes as soon as it has opened with the lens error on the screen. The shutter opens but closes also, like the lens. Can this be fixed? While disconnecting a lens from my Olympus OM1 camera, a rectangular shaped piece of plasic fell out of the camera. The plastic piece is a foggy looking material and the center has a small clear lens like surface. The plastic piece is about 3/4" by 1-1/4" in size. What fell out and where does it go?

I have a Panasonic Lumix digital camera model DMC-TZ3. It fell into a toilet 8 months ago. I know gross. Fell when the water was still clean.Camera seemed dead. Found it in my garage the other day and stuck the battery in it and it came to life and takes pictures. Problem is that the inside of the lens needs to be cleaned as the water dried inside and left it smudged. Camera shop wants $161.00 to clean it. I own a Nikon D50 and the 55-200 lens will not autofocus (lens continually extends then retracts but never locks into focus). Ive read that depressing the lens release button whilst holding the lens in place and swivelling the lens a couple of times sometimes works (cleans muck off the sensors). I tried this but to no avail. Any halp would be much appreciated. Many thanks.

Why don't you just clean the sensors properly? Remove the lens and clean the contacts on both the camera body and the lens with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol. There's a 50-50 chance something else is causing your problem but try ... Nikon D50 Digital Camera with 18-55mm Lens

Lens problem Hi. I have an Olympus FE-190 digital camera. not sure what happened, but now there is a problem with the lens. when i turn on the camera, the lens extends, retracts, several times (trying to find "home" I think). Image on the display screen is blurry. it WILL take a very blurry picture. there is a faint 'ratcheting" sound when the lens is fully extended. is there a way to 're-set" or calibrate the lens extension setting or focus? thanks very much for your assistance.

I have a canon EF 70-300 f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM lens that has a zoom lock switch. When in the unlocked position and I try to zoom the lens it sticks at around the 200mm mark and cannot seem to move it below that positon, I need to wiggle the barrel before the zoom seems to "let go" and the lens goes to other positions. This is quite a problem as the lens cannot be operated in all its positions. Also when trying to get it unstuck, it feels like I am applying too much force and could further damage
