Having problems with your Canon PowerShot A590 IS Digital Camera ?

Very long lag time to shoot and between shots... sometimes!

\015 I just bought the Canon PowerShot A590. I took a few pictures and they were fine. Later that day, I tried to take pictures of my baby in the bath, and I would hold down the button halfway to focus, then depress it all the way, and there was literally about a 3-second lag until it would shoot, and another several seconds while it "processed" before I could take the next shot.\015\012\015\012I read the manual and thought it could be a memory card formatting problem, so I formatted the memory card. I took a couple of pictures immediately afterward (in my living room, good lighting) and everything was fine-- so I thought. Then I went out to a theatre this afternoon (not darkened lighting, but not great lighting) and had the same problem of the very long lags.\015\012\015\012This camera will be useless to me if I have these huge lags... my daughter doesn't stop and pose for several seconds... I have to catch good candids!\015\012\015\012Any ideas? I haven't changed any default settings, and I tried using several diffent modes (auto, easy, night, etc.). I had a Canon PowerShot SD600 before this and never had this problem.\015\012\015\012Thanks for any help you can provide.\015

Hello again after researching i did find out that there is about a 3 second delay if using the flash option did any of your delays happen when not using the flash ? also does this happen when using the camera in auto mode ? turning the knob on the top to the green auto mode i'm thinking it also could have to do with your shutter speed or try going to the menu and changing the shutter speed to a faster speed your self then taking pictures in av or tv mode. here's a comment from a review on the PowerShot a590 that might help. \015\012Camera performance is very good. The PowerShot A590 is ready to shoot after a 1.2 second delay -- pretty snappy. Focus speeds were very good, even in low light situations. Shutter lag wasn't a problem, and shot-to-shot delays were minimal, except when you're using the flash, which is slow to charge. The camera can shoot continuously at 1.5 frames/second until your (high speed) memory card is full. The A590's battery life is 10% better than its predecessors, and is well above average for its class. The camera supports the USB 2.0 High Speed standard, for fast data transfer to a Mac or PC.
\015\012and if you still have the problem with out the flash then the only other solution is a faster flash memory card there's cards made just for digital camera's that store pictures and format quicker.
\015\012hope this helps your enjoy your camera.

Shutter Lag-Time The shutter lag-time on this camera seems quite long to me. I have read the manual that came with the book as well as a "short course" book on the G6 and this isn't really mentioned. I am wondering if this is a problem unique to my camera or if others have noticed this. In "AUTO" mode it is the worst. Am I missing something, or is this just the way the camera operates?

The G5 has a rather short shutter lag and a rather lengthy focus lag. So if you half depress the shutter release to focus, and then moments later fully depress the shutter release I expect you will find very little lag. But I would not expect a prosu ... Canon PowerShot G6 Digital Camera

Battery Problem I have trouble with apparent battery failure due to bad contacts on the slide-out tray thingie that holds the batterys. Jamming it in several times when I change batteries sometimes helps, but often the camera will stop working in the middle of a shoot and indicate the battery is discharged. A quick in-and-out a couple of times of the thingie restores full battery power, but by then I've probably missed my picture. Anyone else have this problem? Other than that (and piss-poor aut
