Having problems with your Canon PowerShot A650 IS Digital Camera ?
Bad photo sensor
\015 Occasionally, my images will have a upright rectangular area that is slightly washed out in the middle of the picture. (I assumed a bad photo sensor) I sent my camera back to the dealer, and they sent it back after they said it was fixed. Only they had jammed the battery cover shut so I couldn't open it. Also they had chipped off a piece of the cover, probably trying to close it. We sent it back again. Then they sent it back, saying they had repaired the problem. After a few weeks, I was starting to occasionally have the same problem with the photo sensor again. Can this be fixed?\015
Canon will repair that problem for free. I'm assuming you mean Canon when you say "Dealer". If not, hope you were not paying money for those previous repairs. Recommend not letting anyone but Canon touch that camera. Please see the following:

I have a problem with a Cannon Power Shot A610 as follows: The monitor is dark when the camera is turned on and the camera will not take photos. The playback works OK for reviewing photos previously taken before this problem developed. A Best Buy troubleshooter inspected it aand said the sensor in the cameera was bad and that I should buy a new camera because of the repair cost. I need a second opinion before making this decision. Thanks. e-mail address: [email protected]

I have a 2-3 year old D60. I did a 5-minute exposure of the night sky to catch the motion of the stars. There is a faint double line going across part of the photo. The lines each have small dots at uniform intervals that you can see when enlarging. One person said it might be a bad sensor. Maybe the aliens really have arrived! Haven't had any other problems such as this or noticed anything on any other photos. Suggestions?

Image quality Hi. When I'm taking photos and set my exposure manually on my Canon 20D, the image looks right exposed on my LCD screen, but when I download all the photos on my PC, all the photos are VERY DARK. This takes lots of time for me to edit it and then after I've got the right brightness on my PC I discovered that the image quality is VERY BAD!!! There is lots of noise on the image. I was taking photos over the weekend with my Olympus E-500 and the eyepiece viewfinder got darker than usual. I was using a promaster 5750DX flash. Even without the flash, the eyepiece viewfinder has remained dark. Also, I reset all settings to the default settings and now when the built in flash pops up, there are a series of three "beeps" and the camera tries to focus. I cannot get it to take a photo however. I also pushed the button for the sensor cleaning today. Could this have screwed u

Hi. Very unhappy with quality of Ixus 80is photos. They are not at all sharp, milky, with no depth, in various light conditions. I did comparison identical rural scenic photos with the canon and 2 different 5 megapixel phone cameras. In most cases, the Nokia N95 camera results are far superior to the canon. I have read nothing but good reviews about the quality of pics from this camera so I'm wondering why mine are so bad. Any ideas?

Dim Photos My G3 has begun to take very dim photos, all iso speeds are affected plus Auto mode. It can barely focus, even with the assist light on. If it was the light meter (setting too high an aperture?) it would probably be able to focus, right. When I take a picture it always sets f2.0 1/60 sec, even at iso400. Is it the image sensor?
Put the camera in to the full auto mode. If the pictures are still dark, it is possible that the apature inside of the lens is not working. There is a micro-motor, gear assembly, iris leaf assembly, and a servo amp circuit that drives the apature. Th ... Canon PowerShot G3 Digital Camera
