Having problems with your Canon PowerShot A710 IS Digital Camera ?

Battery life When I first had this camera, about 3 years ago, the rechargeable batteries I bought seemed to last for ages. But more recently the "low battery warning" has been coming on very shortly after inserting freshly charged batteries. I have tried using ordinary batteries (high powered) but even with these I can only take a few pictures before the warning light comes on. Once the light is on, the camera goes dead after a few more pictures so it's not giving me a false "low battery" warnin

The rechargeables are only meant to last a couple years maximum (pretty good that you got three out of them). Also rechargeable NiMH's have approximately 5 times the power of standard alkaline batteries. Alkaline batteries should only be used in emergencies in digital cameras as they will only last for a short while before they are drained (as you've discovered).

\015\012The obvious solution is that it's time to consider purchasing a new set of rechargeable NiMH batteries. Look on the package for a power rating of at least 2,500 mah. Avoid batteries that do not list the power rating as they are generally inferior batteries.
I cant take credit for this, I found it elsewhere on another forum, but it sure worked for me. CLEAN the contacts in the battery compartment thoroughly with alcohol, use a *small* bit of WD40 on a ear cleaning bud after that. Do the same to the metal (+ and - contacts) on the battery itself. Things should work fine after that. Did for me.

Does anyone know what the remedy might be. I love this camera and wish it would work like it like it once did. thanks.

I changed the batteries in my Power Shot A720 IS recently when the low battery warning flashed, and had taken only two photos when the warning flashed again. Low battery? I got my camera today, setup the setup menus, and had started to check out the features when the low battery warning came up. So I replaced the batteries and tried to turn the camera on but now all I get is the green light comes on for 3 seconds, goes off and approx. 5 seconds later the light flashes on, then off and the camera beeps 3 times, and nothing after that. The lens does not move at all. I went out and bought brand new batteries that were industrial strength and tried those

My Samsung S730 says "low battery" and turns itself off immediately. I know that my batteries are fully charged and I have tried four different sets of batteries. Each time, it says the batteries are low and turns itself off. What can I do to fix it? This camera goes through very light usage (probably have only ever taken 200 pictures with it) and is in perfect condition. How can it be broken?

We have a Canon Power Shot A570 IS, purchased October 30, 2007. We have purchased new AA-size NiMH batteries for it but the problem remains. Whenever you turn it on it shows "Batteries Low" and shuts itself off. You might be able to take 1 or 2 pictures before the batteries low light comes on. I understand that lithium batteries will not work in this camera. Please advise. Thanks, Eileen

Hi there We have a Canon Powershot A570IS digital camera, about a month old. Since changing the batteries once, the camera "low battery" warning light blinks every time the camera is switched on, and then it just cuts out with a "change the batteries" message. The new batteries are fine. They have been checked with a voltmeter and are giving spec of 1.5 V each. Any ideas? Thanks for your help Andrew James, Wantage, Oxfordshire, UK

7 May 2010 Hi there, I have an Olympus camera that I bought in June 2007. I had a two-year guarantee, which ran out last year. Now my camera won?t come on. Now, however, I?ve had no low-battery warning light and one minute the camera was working, the next it had stopped. Battery Problem I was given an SD9 last month and so far like it except for some battery issues. Using fresh AA's it will often give me the 'low battery' warning as soon as they are loaded.
