Remove the card and battery...press all the buttons...insert the card and then the battery...turn on the camera. Hello, I recently purchased the Canon powershot sd1400. I connected the camara to my computer for the first time to download my pictures and it worked. Now i tried to do the same but my computer no longer recognizes it is connected. I then installed the software(disc) and reconnected the camara. I attempted to open the camara window but I keep getting the error message that reads "can not detect camara. please check connection and try again." I've been doing this for hours and still no luck.

Verticle Lines When I turn on my camera, all I can see in my view-finder is many lines, almost like a multi-colored bar code. Sometimes this occurs after trying to take the first picture, but most of the time there cannot even be a first picture. When I attempt to snap a picture with the lines in the view finder and then 'recall' that picture, it is only the lines.

I have a powershot S400. similar to one of the previous posts, the camera first started showing a pink hue in the center (1/3) column of the viewer, which would occassionaly show up on the snapshot. Now that problem has digressed considerably to distortion. first the center 1/3 of the image on the vieing screen will start to take on a pink hue. then the same area will appear to "melt" with pixels of the original image streeking down. sometimes I take a picture and it comes out perfectly

Design defect I have been a long time user of Canon Digital Cameras. I began with the Canon Powershot S200, Powershot S330 and graduated to an EOS Rebel XT. Beginning when I first uploaded pictures to my Macintosh Powerbook from my trusty S200, I was literally blown away with the quality of the photos. One most sentimental experience I had with your camers was after I bought a new home outside Buffalo, NY. My mother was 90 and living in a nursing home in Central New York. She was very intere

I have had two digital cameras (the first an Ixus - the present a Powershot). After a couple of years the Ixus wore out batteries in 5 minutes - and buying new ones did not help. Now the same thing is happenng to my Powershot - which uses ordinary AA-batteries. Both cameras still take very good pictures - but a retailer told me that this is what happens to digital cameras after a while. Do i really have to by a new one every 3.rd year - or have anyone any suggestions?
