Having problems with your Canon PowerShot A80 Digital Camera ?

Vertical lines obscuring image

\015 We have a Canon A80, approx. 4 1/2 years old, never had a problem until now. Worked fine a couple of days ago. Suddenly today the LCD screen is completely filled with vertical lines of various colours, no image can be seen on it. I tried taking pictures anyway (through the viewfinder) and uploading to the computer but again all I can see is vertical lines, no image. When the camera is first turned on I do get the Canon logo on the blue background which works fine, but can't seem to get the screen or actual camera to work properly beyond that. It hasn't been dropped or gotten wet or anything like that.\015

This may be a manufacturing defect. Canon will repair an A80, regardless of warranty status, if it exhibits particular sensor problems.

The matrix is dead. Probably because of an intensive light got into the lense while the camera was in night mode. It's dead. Nothing can be done.

Distorted image The image I see through the viewer is distorted(vertical lines). Also if I take a picture that comes up the same, all vertical lines? The picture looks good in the viewfinder but the actual picture is distorted---many horizontal lines thru the picture and the exposure is very very light. I have tried cleaning the lens with an "air duster: but has not helped. Any suggestions?

When turned on, my Olympus 700 Stylus digital camera shows a thin green vertical line on the right side of the viewfinder--7/16 of an inch to the left of the right edge of the viewing area. However, when the intensity of the light is increased, the visibility of the line in the viewfinder and downloaded image is decreased. What is the problem and can it be corrected?
