Having problems with your Canon PowerShot G9 Digital Camera ?

My Canon G9 had gotten wet and it was dried and returned in working order by a Canon dealer. He said that the camera might develop spots on the lens and a few months later I noticed a hazy area in the middle of each picture. It appears to be getting worse. Is the lens replaceable on the G9 or should I consider buying a new G9. I love this specific point and shoot. Thanks in advance MH

Answers :

You can have the lens replaced with the original Canon lens and the camera serviced for under $100. Try this site: www.camerasandparts.com they just do powershots and they are excellent for help with these. Their service prices are down to earth and they do fantastic work. Hope that helps.
The lens is replaceable but at high cost. If you have a Canon dealer at your disposal, why not get an estimate. Then you can decide if it is worth it.

Lens spring/s A couple of weeks ago I got the dreaded lens error. In my case it was probably due to sand. I took the camera apart and when I came to disassembling the lens - the spring popped and fell on the floor - as I picked it up it caught in the carpet and I ruined it. So my question is where do I get a replacement without sending the whole camera back to Canon? Also is there 2 springs, as there seems to be hooks for 2?

Took Canon A620 apart to replace the motorized lens. One small spring fell out of somewhere in the process. One expert said I need to take the CCD out and that the spring is used to adjust the lens. I got my Canon a590 this past christmas; since then, every so often, it will not show any image on the screen. All I can see is the menu options. Every time I want to take a picture, all I get is absolute black. However, I can view pictures on a memory card with no problem on the main screen. The last 3-4 times this happened, the problem usually went away within a few days. I've tried replacing the batteries, but to no avail. Is my lens bad, or is it due to a more intricate problem?

Won't Focus I have had my Canon Powershot SD1000 for about 9 months now. I have had problems with the lens error and it getting stuck but have always been able to get it to work eventually. I had another bout with the lens getting stuck, was able to get it unstuck but now it won't focus at all. Normally I press the shutter down half way to get it to focus on my subject, but now it simply won't focus. I'm wondering if maybe my settings are off, or if it's an internal problem. I applied lens cleaning fluid directly to the lens of my camera, a Fuji F50FD digital compact, but it seems to have leaked into the lens housing. Any photos I now take appear with mutiple fine white streaks across them. Curiously, when I shoot in video mode the footage appears completely unaffected. Is this something that I can fix myself - is it just a question of taking the camera apart, then cleaning the inside with care? Or would the lens housing now to be replaced?

This is not something I would recommend you do without the proper knowledge or alignment tools. You would probably just end up with a brick instead of a camera. Sending it to a repair center would be very expensive. Possibly much more than the camera ... Fuji Finepix F50FD Digital Camera

Hi all, I wonder if you can supply some advice regarding a Sigma17-35mm lens I purchased earlier in the year. Basically if I use the automatic or 'P' setting on my Canon EOS 30D camera the image is over exposed by 1 to 2 stops. If I use the same functions with my Canon 18 -55 kit lens the exposure is correct so I would presume the camera is not causing the problem.
