Canon EOS Rebel XT with EFS 18-55mm lens. Trouble-free for two years. During a weekend of lots of use, suddenly the camera would not autofocus. Switching to manual focus, the camera worked. Then it started working okay in autofocus. Later that day quit altogether. (Would not release shutter even in manual mode.) Removed the lens and cleaned the contacts on both lens and camera, started working okay but only temporary. Went through several cycles of this over the weekend, so I'm not sure

I have a Canon 40D and tried to use my Sigma 28-300 1:3.5-6.3 DL Hyperzoom lens on it but the camera kept telling me that it could not communicate with the lens and that I should clean the lens contacts. I cleaned the contacts several times (which were not dirty) but still got the same results. The lens is 5 or so years old, is it possible that the lens is not compatible with the 40D?

It could be that the lens, being so old, needs a firmware update. Go to http://www.sigmaphoto.com/service-support for a service form and instructions. ... Digital Cameras

I was shooting today and all of a sudden I got an error code 01, which says that the lens and camera aren't communicating and that I need to clean the lens contacts. For one thing, I'm not sure how to do that and, for another thing, it does it on more than one lens. I just had my Canon 100-400 lens repaired by Canon and I'm wondering if something happen to the contacts that makes that lens and others not communicate properly. Hi all, I wonder if you can supply some advice regarding a Sigma17-35mm lens I purchased earlier in the year. Basically if I use the automatic or 'P' setting on my Canon EOS 30D camera the image is over exposed by 1 to 2 stops. If I use the same functions with my Canon 18 -55 kit lens the exposure is correct so I would presume the camera is not causing the problem. The only way I can get a correct exposure with the Sigma lens is to compensate manually for each shot. Please note the exposure p

I just purchased (about one month ago)a Canon 50 D with 28-135 is. Yesterday I recieved a Canon 2.8 IS L 70 -200mm. When I mount the camera to the lens ( the 70-200) I notice a little wiggle in the mount attachment. I went back and checked to see if my other canon and Sigma lenses do this on the 50 d and they do. I just seems more noticeable with the larger lens. Is this normal?

The larger lens is longer and the wiggle is the same amount of play but closer to the end of the lens it moves more due to it being longer/larger. I'm a new user of the D90 (and digital in general), and on my first major trip with it I had problem with the shutter not working. I would take some images, put the camera down without turning it off and move on to the next spot. At the second stop the camera would not work. I'd turn it off, remove the battery, run the lens in and out and eventually it would work again. The message I got was F--, which said that the lens was not installed properly. However the lens was never removed. What's
