Having problems with your Canon PowerShot S2 IS Digital Camera ?

One side of picture not in focus

\015 When taking/editing pictures, I notice that the left side of the picture is not nearly as clear and crisp as the right side. I'm using the auto focus and make sure the square is green before I take the shot. It's really a problem on group photos. The kids on the left are always a little blurry.\015

Image Stabilization
As if that almost\015\012ludicrous sounding focal length weren't enough, the Canon S2 IS will\015\012help you get a solid shot even at the longest zoom settings. A\015\012computer-controlled lens element inside the lens is actually moved\015\012around in time with most detected camera movement. Like most such\015\012systems, it's calibrated to adjust for twitches, breathing, heartbeat,\015\012wind; all the things we don't think about that affect our ability to\015\012hold a camera still. While we don't think about it, our cameras are\015\012honest storytellers, and will usually report these minute movements to\015\012the image sensor, which will in turn deliver blurry images to our\015\012memory cards. Even if you're a rock solid person with nerves of steel,\015\012you're going to get at least some motion blur at either the longest\015\012focal lengths or the lowest shutter speeds (like indoors in low light).\015\012Image stabilization means you'll get more clear shots more of the time.\015\012
\015\012\011\011If you shoot in Continuous mode with the Canon S2 IS,\015\012you'll be able to see the image start to float as soon as you tease the\015\012shutter button. It's the best way to shoot in low light, because it\015\012tells you how well you're holding the camera. You'll soon work with the\015\012camera better when you learn to wait for the image to stabilize. As I\015\012mentioned earlier, getting used to such a system is both good and bad,\015\012so you do have to carefully review your results. Switch to Playback\015\012mode and use the zoom lever to check for motion blur if you already\015\012know you're pushing it. If you're getting blur, you might need to raise\015\012the ISO, brace the camera against something, or flip up the flash. The\015\012IS system is excellent, and will help you get great shots you'd have\015\012never gotten otherwise, but you'll be even happier if you check how\015\012well it's doing. (Also note that the S2 IS has several different IS\015\012modes. Faced with a really challenging situation, you'll probably find\015\012that the "Shoot Only" IS mode will be more successful at compensating\015\012for extreme shake.)
\015\012\011\011Another area image stabilization comes in\015\012handy is in video capture. Usually a feature of high-end video cameras,\015\012the Canon S2 IS's always-present video mode is also enhanced by the\015\012camera's image stabilization, lending a more professional look.

I have a canon rebel xsi that is not taking pictures on auto focus. It will take pictures on manual focus, but they're blurry. I changed my lens to a bigger one to see if it was the lens or camera, and it's the camera. I had the same problem with the other lens. I've tried cleaning it & turning the lens focus ring but is still doing it. Anyone know how to fix this problem?

Outdoors this camera is outstanding, I haven't found any pitfalls outdoors yet. 10x optical zoom plus 2.5" LCD WOW. Hi i just bought a canon eos rebel from someone online and it has a 28-80 lens. I try to use it and i noticed the focus is very loose, is that normal? I dont know alot about cameras but i have used manual cameras before and i have never used one with such a loose focus. And also would i lose slight focus if its like that when i go and take a picture?

Your camera is primarily an autofocus model: manual focussing is very much a secondary feature and is always very free moving. Focusing Problems I just bought the Canon 20d. I shot a wedding with it two weeks ago, and really liked how it performed in low light. However, I noticed a lot of my photos from the low lit reception came back out of focus. (The outdoor ceremony shots were fine). I noticed 3 issues with the images: 1-The main subject, which often was dead center and took up 1/2 to 2/3 of the frame, was often NOT in focus. Rather, the camera selected some point way off to one side or off in the distance som

Before Christmas, I was in the EasyShare program, looking for a particular picture.
