HI,

This problem indicates an internal issue with circuit board or switch mechanism which will require a physical presence of a tech to be fixed.
You can try out the below few home remedies if that doesn't help then you will have to get this repaired. If your camera is under warranty then you need to contact the support team of your camera and they will guide you to the way to the service center.
If this is not under warranty then i highly recommend:

www.advancecamera.com

They give free estimates,Reasonable rates plus a 1 year warranty.

Here are few home Remedies:

1)Remove the mem card and batteries for 5mins and then reinsert only the batteries and see if the camera turns on.If it doesn't the issue is with the mem card. And if it doesn't then reinsert both mem card and batteries and see if the camera gives the display. If it doesn't proceed to step 2.
2)Place the camera flat on its back on the kitchen table, pointed at theceiling. Press and hold the shutter button down, and at the same timepress the power-on button.\011\011
\011\011Theidea is that the camera will try to autofocus while the lens isextending, hopefully seating the lens barrel guide pins in their slots. If this doesn't help proceed to steps 3.
3)Repeatedly tap the padded/rubber usb cover on a hard surface with theintent of dislodging any particles that may be jamming the lens. A lotof people have reported success with this method.

I haven't used my Nikon Coolpix E5700 for several years now. I have moved several houses, so something may have caused my camera to stop working. However, I've attempted to turn it on several times and all the monitor shows is a "Lens Error" sign. I've taken out the battery, recharged it, and replaced it yet it still doesn't make a difference. Is there any way I can fix it without bringing it to a shop?

Battery problem This morning I turned on my brand new Nikon Coolpix 5400 and got nothing on the screen. pushed some buttons and still nothing. Went to turn it off and it won't. The lens stays extended and the power light is still on. I don't know if maybe the batteries are so low they can't do anything, but I was under the impression that the camera had an indicator for the batteries really needing to be recharged. The low battery light was on last night, but I haven't seen need to be recharged
