Having problems with your Canon PowerShot SD1000 Digital Camera ?

My Canon PowerShot SD1000 shoots completely black pictures. The lens is open and there is no damage to the lens or the screen. The battery is fully charged and I've even tried a different memory card. It reads pictures previously taken, but takes only completely black images.

A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open).

\015\012To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

No picture I have a FinePix S2 Pro that I have had a couple years. Yesterday when I took pictures with it every picture is black when viewed on the LCD screen. The lens cap is off and I have tried several different lenses and memory cards, adjusted the ISO, tried it with and without a flash, but still the same result. I can view previously recorded pictures, so I know its not the LCD screen. Could the CCD have gone bad? Any thoughts by anyone?

Blank photos Hi I've had a refurbished rebel XT for a little over a year now. It worked great until last september or so when all of the sudden for the first 50ish pictures i take it records completely black photos. If I take enough the complete blackness becomes a few black lines and finally it takes normal photos, but only until I turn it off and then I have to start the whole process over again. I made sure my software was up to date and I tried two different memory cards. Any advice?
